I was trying to save money everywhere I could so I bought a Open Box MSI Z77a Gd65 from newegg it's stuck at the airport right now seeing that it's the weekend and I'll be recieving it on monday, thing is I've heard alot of things about open box products from newegg, I figured since the board hasen't been out for long there couldn't be much wrong with it. I took the percausion of contacting a friend that has a 3770k and asking him if he would test it for me, what I need to know is is open box worth it? I got it at Gd45 price so I'm feeling good but a bit nervous!

Received it works fine wasn't even opened, they just used the disk LOL! just need ram/cpu

Newegg open boxes are usually good stuff someone might of returned cause they wanted something different or they used it for demo purposes. UPS doesnt deliver on weekends unless you pay a premium EXTRA price. They be strictly Monday thru Friday deliveries.

You should be ok I think. With some parts, retailers tend to have them returned, minorly test to see if it works, and if they dont really see much of the error, they still give a replacement and just resell the item.

However, with an item like a motherboard, if something is not working on it, chances are the whole thing wont be at all, which would show in the minor tests. This means if there are any issues with a motherboard, it wont often just be resold.

This is a little speculative however, so may not be true in all cases

I think you'll be fine though!
