I did a Google on it since ive never heard of it. Sounds pretty nice actualy. As you can see my Randall is my main amp cause i love fat tube sound. I just got it all fixed up. Bout 300 bucks worth of main tubes. Distortion 7 matched Groove Tubes. And all matched 12ax7 Groove Tube preamp. I get killer tone outa my amp with stock pickups from all my guitars.
I have the Vintage 30s in my Crate cabs actualy. I use these speakers because of their lower rating but greater ability to carry a guitar tone. Really what you want is a low watt great sounding speaker in your guitar cabs. Dont go for higher wattage rating. Because the faster you can break that distortion area the better gain reception youll get out of your speakers. In short, it will give you a sweeter gain without the nasty over distortion you dont want from over driving your amp (Or pedal) to hard. Im sure we all know what this sounds like. Crap. So say you have 4 30 watt speakers for a total peak output of 120watt per cab. The way i wire it would be for 8ohm since i run full stacks. If you plan to run half then wire for 4ohm. To hard to explain why, just trust me on that
Your basic tube amp is 100watts (4 output tubes) so basicaly its really easy to break that barrier with any tube amp to get that "sweet spot".
My Randall cab for instance has 4 85watt Celestion 10" speakers and it even though it sounds great with my Peavey (160watt RMS) its not so great with my Randall cause i just cant get that tone i want out of it. Also, the way your speaker cabinet is made plays a big part in tone as well. The reason i prefer the Sunn cab with the Carvins is because its solid pine. Its alot heavier but i get more bottom end and umph from it. Thats becasue of the more solid wood. My Crate cabs are made from 3/4" Pressboard and the back is pine. Light weight and great for gigs (Use a PA to get bottom end that way) but other than that i prefer this Sunn now for recording and gigs where i need all my sound from the cab. Hope i helped learn somebody a few things.
