Recommend me a 1440p G-Sync display

I wouldn't recommend the Acer Predator X34... I've got it and I'm gonna return it. You're pretty much risking a lot by purchasing this monitor, that is so damn expensive.

At this price, it should be f****g perfect!... But it ain't.

Massive "bleed", whatever it's called, it says 100Hz on the monitor and in Nvidia control panel, but when testing on a site, it registers at 60Hz?.

Plus it has coil whine where the logo/underglow is located.

So yes, overall... For this price. Not worth it at all in my eyes, due to the problems it has. Specially since so many people have reported the same and for this price, it's unacceptable.

But make your own choice... Just my thoughts on it.

Could just be an exception TBH, it happens...

#1. I'm about to pull the trigger on the Predator, and since I am currently playing Fallout 4 (will to return to AC: S and of course TW3!!) which is problematic with anything >60 FPS; will it be worth buying now or post-Fallout?

#2. Also, anyone with these Predators that can advise me some settings tweaks for the monitor itself? I found this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/acer-xb270hu-27-inch-g-sync-monitor,4238-3.html but there might be something better out there from long term users.

Kinda weird to quote myself lol but seeing as how Christmas is so close I have only today left to order - or not - and could really use some input to at least #1. ;)

Would be nice to have at least 60 FPS in TW3 with this setup with hairworks off but lol that isn't going to happen! 40 at most seemingly. I need Pascal ;)

I read somewhere that the coil whine in that screen is actually coming from the speakers. Turning down the audio in the screens options, or disabling it in the nvidia control panel fixed it for some users. I realise this might not be the exact issue you're dealing with, but it's worth a try.

But yes I agree the price is ridiculous compared to the overall quality of the screen. Unfortunately people will buy it no matter what.

Which site is this? Chances are that if nVidia's control panel reports 100hz its more accurate than some random website. Especially considering how unique the monitor is. Its not exactly common to have a refresh rate of 100hz. Most (if not all?) refresh testing websites can only do preset refresh rates.

I have to steer away for a bit from your topic guys by asking if these online sites that check for dead and stuck pixels are any good with a high refresh rate monitor?

If you want to check the refresh rate of the monitor, either go into the control panel and check or check the amd/nvidia settings. If you want more verification, go into the monitor properties panel and check there too.

My bad, I meant something else, never mind :)

Got the monitor but it's got 1 dead and 1 stuck pixel, and some dust clutter at one spot so I'm going to exchange it for another and hoping that one will be 100 % perfect. Going back to my cheapy cheapy monitor makes me want to tear my eyes out lol

It's a really nice picture though! FPS is still 60+ in FO4 (same settings) and 48-50+ in AC: S.

So in NCP (and in-game) Vsync is on, should I disable it with the G-Sync monitor?

Ohh, might worth a shot... Since I love the monitor in itself. The size and colours are just stunning.

So will see if it's the speakers. Will disable them and see... But doubt it, since on 60Hz it was no sound, but doing 100Hz it came a small whine.

Not sure if this site is legit or so... But used it since some reviewers of the monitor, used it.

Do you perhaps know any test sites that are legit/good?... For dead/stuck pixels, colours, hertz etc?...

No not really. That TestUFO site doesn't seem to be able to go to custom refresh rates (i.e 75hz, 100hz) so that is the website issue sorted.

Okay, since on "JokerProduction"'s video, he used the same site and it says "100Hz" "Valid" :/... Strange.

But if that does make the website issue sorted, then awesome!

Did you get the ASUS Dominator with FreeSync?...

I did try this out and unfortunately, that didn't sort it for me... It's the Hz that does it.
When I'm at 60Hz, I hear a small buzz. But when I go to 100Hz, the buzz gets a little bit louder.
And when the monitors shuts off for a second, to go from 60Hz to 100Hz, during that shutdown... The buzz disappears :(

Got the monitor in and it's a perfect one; no dead / stuck pixels, no real IPS glow. Very happy! Been changing the OSD settings following a review and I can't for the love of life find the following (I am on user mode in the first icon and colour temp):

RGB 50, 45, 46

luminance (cd/m2) 120
Black Point (cd/m2) 0.13
Contrast Ratio 936:1

Alternatively, maybe the game mode preset is best, I ask aloud?

I've been hearing rather negative things about the quality of the X34 plus many games not supporting the resolution. I can definitely recommend my monitor!!

I'm tossing up either the Asus PG279Q, Acer Xb271HU or the 34" model from acer. I've just seen Awesome hardware's stream on twitch and I think they said something about a 165hz 34" gsync panel as well....

Found this review today. He missed BLB but it's ok

Do not for the love of God go with the Acer X34, you'll be disappointed. I shortly owned one, but returned it cause of it's faulty things, which shouldn't be existing at all for the price of the thing.

Yes, I've heard about ASUS new "updated" ROG Swift PG278Q monitor to be 165Hz, which I believe is the PG279Q, if I'm not mistaken here... or maybe it was overclockable to that.

I've heard good things of the Acer 27" 1440p 144Hz monitor though, not as much as with the ROG Swift. But I still went with my ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q and got a dead/stuck pixel in the beginning.
Putted it away during testing of the X34, then took the Swift back out and during this time it had been in a rather cold environment, so I then took a chance and grabbed a pen and gently "touched" the dead pixel and boom, it went alive :)

So I wouldn't recommend the Acer X34 at all... I mean, sure, it's nice and big, and it looks absolutely heavenly gorgeous watching movies on it and gaming on it. But it has so much faults that it's just not worth it (unless you get a golden one).

It should be freaking flawless for the $1300 price tag!

I Just got the Xb271hu and love it. Pretty sure they use the same panel so go with whichever you can get your hands on/like more. With that said I am glad I got my Predator. At first the colors were not popping off the screen the soon as I started tweaking it came to life. The saturation setting helped a lot.
Also in the video you linked he said the bottom bezel of the Predator seemed flimsy or something. It must of been his sample because mine is rock solid. I've been looking for a reason to send this monitor back and can't find one.
