Recommend me a 1440p G-Sync display

Ya he went through like 6-7 of those. I'd keep looking for a cheaper one. That was just off the top of my head and what I have available here in the US is probably little different for you.

And pretty sure Dice had the Freesync variant of the same Acer. He loved it and said was superior to the Swift in every way

Poor Dice! I admire his patience though; I would've gone mental at the second bad one.

We pretty much have the same selection here as you do in the US; just for loads more money *sad lol*

Besides, if the Predator is a good monitor it's a good monitor. And I plan on looking at it for years to come so maybe it's okay if it's a more expensive purchase - it'll outlast some of my other components for sure! Its price just hasn't dropped here much since it got released. Also, I have never been an Acer fan but I know their top of the line products, like the Predators, are of excellent quality. But of course I keep my eyes open and welcome other suggestions.

Going to look for an overview somewhere: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/g-sync/where-to-buy-g-sync-monitors-and-modules found one. Not a lot of options there, and most of them are TN panels. Wanting an IPS monitor doesn't really provide me with a lot of options, so maybe I'll just have to bite the bullet on the Predator.

Off topic for sure, but love the display photo. Legion would be proud.

Yeah my favourite ME character. Here you go; full pic:

I've got 3 Predator G-Sync ones and all have been perfect. Very well packaged and no dead/stuck/bright pixels. One does have a very and I mean very slight backlight bleed on the bottom left corner.

TBH I've got several swift ones as well as several of my mates and they don't have any problems either. So I think Dices stroke of luck was just terrible or something. I will admit though Asus does seemed to have dropped the ball in regards to the quality of their products as of late though.

I would still recommend the predator though, lovely looking monitor for a gaming build. I use the swifts with the LEDs off in the office though

I have the ROG Swift version 1 and have had no issues it's a fantastic monitor, I get really good frames in games and no tearing, movies look great too all around I can highly recommend

Happy to hear! I had my eye on this one when I started this thread, however there are too many reports of issues with it plus it isn't an IPS so I'll have to let it be. As of now the Acer Predator XB270HU sits at no #1.

Fair enough you have to buy what you are most happy with

I just notice that there seem to be more FreeSync than G-Sync monitors in the market, and better priced too ha ha, Nvidia sure likes the premium segment ;)

Throw IPS in the mix and there's barely anything to pick from (it's only the Acer and the upcoming Asus Swift ver. 2), but I'm repeating myself.

Considering the cost of adopting G-Sync, it becomes obvious why they wouldn't want too many of them lying around.

Still, they'd benefit from having their tech implemented in more models.

I think because there are only two IPS models I'll go with the cheaper and likely better Acer Predator XB270HU.

So how would I go about playing an FPS limited to 60 game like Fallout 4 on such a monitor? Don't need Vsync enabled with G-Sync after all, and I expect the monitor to simply run at 60Hz?

I also agree. Ok I have 1 dead pixel, which I never noticed until Dice began complaining about his, so no idea how long its been there. There aren't any others and this one is so incognito you never even notice it unless actively searching with your face up against the screen.

All in all, its the best monitor I have had period.

Oh sure; they're not all bad of course and I'm sure that most of you have no issues at all. However, I have to go for the Acer Predator XB270HU because it's an IPS monitor.

- What's up with the bprz behind the model name?!

I'll second this, I've had the swift since day one and fortunately no dead pixels as of yet or any issues, it's performs flawlessly :)

Tbh you won't know till you get either and if you no likey send it back and get different one till your happy :)

Point taken, yet some seem to be missing my point that I'd like an IPS monitor, of which two G-Sync models exist: the Predator and the upcoming Swift (which is so much more expensive so doesn't make sense) :)

#1. I'm about to pull the trigger on the Predator, and since I am currently playing Fallout 4 (will to return to AC: S and of course TW3!!) which is problematic with anything >60 FPS; will it be worth buying now or post-Fallout?

#2. Also, anyone with these Predators that can advise me some settings tweaks for the monitor itself? I found this: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/acer-xb270hu-27-inch-g-sync-monitor,4238-3.html but there might be something better out there from long term users.

I wouldn't recommend the Acer Predator X34... I've got it and I'm gonna return it. You're pretty much risking a lot by purchasing this monitor, that is so damn expensive.

At this price, it should be f****g perfect!... But it ain't.

Massive "bleed", whatever it's called, it says 100Hz on the monitor and in Nvidia control panel, but when testing on a site, it registers at 60Hz?.

Plus it has coil whine where the logo/underglow is located.

So yes, overall... For this price. Not worth it at all in my eyes, due to the problems it has. Specially since so many people have reported the same and for this price, it's unacceptable.

But make your own choice... Just my thoughts on it.

I didn't mean the X34 ;) I'm sorry to hear about your troubles though.

I'm looking at the Acer Predator XB270HU :) Reviews are favourable, and another forum user here reported solid experiences with no less than three of them in this thread.

Ah sorry to hear about that I was looking at one as well.
