F@H maintenance thread...

Sorry to hear matey :(
That really blows, at the END of the year

I wish you better luck next year.. my Folding friend !

Greetings, Ray........

Oh the joys of overclocking!! I got my gf's son a 660ti for Christmas, but I told him it had to spend some time on my testbench while I chased 3DMark scores. I was able to get +62 on the gpu clock and +705 on the memory. In the process of cracking 9000 on 3DMark11 (I got 9003), the DVI input on my monitor gave up the ghost!! Luckily, it's still under warranty :) So that explains my drop in PPD the last few days and hence the post in this section. The card will now retire to a happy life of gaming and back to full-time folding for my rigs.

I need to maintain my main rig, as in the "annoying thread" it keeps locking up,
i hope it isn't my GTX680 :(

So main is going down, as i need to go away today and maybe tomorrow...

Ray.........

Oo that main rig thingy is solved(was a dead or dying "micron" ssd) al tho "soved" in that way, that i am now(ones my GPU projects are finished) going to install the Fresh OS on my new SSD ..
So a hour +- NO F@H on my main rig...

Greetings, Ray and Happy Folding.!

sorry for the absence, but xmas is a little tight in ther wallet and to help compensate for that i do turn my rig off when not in use, and when it is in use i play games so no folding.
#

once the weather warms up a little and the wife doesnt need the heating on 24/7 i will return to folding, buit for now let call it a maintenance period :P

I will be back

No worries mate. I have the radiator off in my room off because my rig is a heater :p

I took the XW6600 offline a while yesterday to add in the extra PCI-X connector. I found one (the wire/connector) on an old PSU that still works but wi not need it.

On top of all the problems I had soldering the wire in, it turned out to be too short, an extra half inch probably would have been ok. Much cussing, sore fingers and backache later (my working environment is less than optimal) I extended that wire and its all back in action, without the rather dodgy molex config I had previously.

Although I seem to have lost the USB wifi dongle that was plugged into the PC :/

Will be heading out today for about a week, most of my rigs will be down while I'm gone so my PPD will suffer as a result.

Edit: Made it home...rigs back up and running.

I have finally got onto Asus about the dead 560 Ti.

I know these things happen and I'm not blaming shoddy Asus products, but its a little odd that my other 560 Ti which had done way more folding before I found this card dead and continues to fold... Is basically a reference design card with reference cooler.

I really hope Asus will RMA the card and not want it in the original box, which has gone missing in all my moving about.

Unsure if I should sell both 560 Tis (if I get the Asus one back) and grab a 660Ti/670 or keep the two.

The lower power draw is quite appealing.

unlucky mate, hope Asus do RMA it for you.

Could go with 670's, mine are pulling 26-27k PPD and at 50% fan speed, they hover around 59c mark

I don't have the cash to get two, so I will be trading two cards for one... for the time being anyway.

I would lose some PPD if I was running at max, but I'm having to only run 1 GPU per system at the moment anyway partly because of power draining and partly because of the dead card.
