My board is equip to output an optical S/PDIF ... but when I got the adapter (Toslink Jack to 3.5mm Plug Adapter) and plug it to bernstein sound card I got no light... My question is, is there a different kind of toslink adapter that I needed to use in order to make it work....

This is what I got for adapter:

not sure, stab in the dark but that Isn't like an optical adaptor I have ever seen normaly the have a sqaure like box on the end.

I believe YOU are probably right about something that you don't understand in a first place but bottom line try not to be smart about something that you don't comprehend fully, KEEP YOUR THOUGHT TO YOUR SELF it doesn't make you less smart :wavey:

The light should be visible from the port if u open the tab. If not, check it's enabled in the bios.

Its apparent that you are not familiar to a DFI Motherboard that has a bernstein sound card.

For your future reference the bernstein sound card that the DFI using have a default COAXIAL S/PDIF and needed to have an adafter so that you will able to use the fiber optics.

Now, the mobo, the sound card, or whatever the configuration I currently have do not pertain to what I am currently asking which is in plain ENGLISH.

Does the toslink adapter for coaxial s/pdip comes in different types???

I've warned you about being rude to members. While this responce isn't as bad as the first was, I will advise you to change your tone. One more rude reply and you will be infractioned.

There are two mediums used to transfer data over S/PDIF connections. Optical and Coaxial. You only have coaxial plugs on your DFI's card (there is an optical header yes, but I'm assuing you dont have a front pannel or you wouldn't have this trouble). These are not compatable with optical cables. You will need more than a small adapter to convert the digital siganl form electrical (used by coax) to the light (used by optical). Taking the first result from google, an adapter such as this is needed. Be aware you need S/PDIF rated coaxial cable, normal coax wont work.

Thanks Ham

Ham,

Is this will work vise-versa I need coaxial to optical not optical to coaxial?

nvm found one Thanks again
