Your exchange has ADSL broadband.

Our initial test at your postcode indicates that you may be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides 1Mbps, 512Kbps or 256Kbps line rate. However due to the length of your line the 1Mbps service may require an engineer visit who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.

Thank you for your interest

hmm ok.. since i don't have a BT line.. (we're all NTL :( ) at least i can get it.. i'll talk to the rents.. can u pm me the info i need to get the offer please?

I'm on 2Mb now... but i guess that aint ADSL.. hope we can still get the speed of 2Mb adsl.. i cudn't stand downgrading lol

If the BT checker says that all you can get is 1mb then that is probably all that IDNet will be able to install ADSL as. What do you use your line mostly for?

Iam with PN untill monday - BT said i couldnt get 2mb but Plus net said I might be able to but would have to pay £14 for them to try it, so i didnt bother - hopfully on monday when i move over to IDnet i will see for sure if i can get 2mb i sure do hope i can!

games, downloading, torrents, browsing, all sorts mate.... the checker said i can have adsl.. so we'll just switch back to a bt line, we had one before going ntl

Cool. I'm in London right now. But I from Fowey. I went to Truro College, well I some of the time ;) . Are you studying computing there? I did, I was wondering they have the same lecturers.

Yeah I am, Had Bob for my As comp. and have Conon now for my A2, not sure how long they've been there.

Haha, cool. I had Bob too. He's a nice guy.

EDIT: XMS, I have got a BT line, my girlfriend was confusing me! I can't get it connected today. I'll ring first thing monday morning. It should be working by the end of the week.

Right well 30mins into today i decided i had to try my IDnet log in details and woo did they work !!!

now that i was on IDnet i thought right best try some CS - so i logged on to the hexus server were my ping was about 25-30 - no real supprise with Jolt.co.uk - i then went over to the SX CS server were i got a ping of 15ms :)

When i was with PN i got upgraded to 1mb - pretty much soon after that my router stopped being able to keep up line sync, so i decided to try my router with meh new isp and so far so good, its kept up the connection for 10mins! hehe (the router is faulty btw, i have tested it) hopfully it wont bail on me, if it doesnt i will be even more pleased !!!

Shortly after my router died .... ah well no biggy - just turned it back into a switch :P

i think its just a poor line, may raise a ticked with BT and see if they will do any thing, they changed my neighbours line a week or so ago and shes an OAP who doesnt need a new line, where as i do, SNR is abit crappy and i think we could do with the phone line being rewired in the house aswell :P

till then ive got a 1.7ghz p4 dell running the internet for all the pc's

and btw IDnet ROCK!

Can anyone recomend a wireless router? I don't need any mod cons. Just wireless / ethernet and maybe a built in firewall.

I will only be using it to connect to my PC about 10 meters from the socket.
