after being messed about with gio internet/hi-velocity and it resulting me not having a connection at all :( im gonna be moving to IDnet.

sounds like a wicked offer. just need to be a little more "active" in here.

o and by the way, is this ADSL/SDSL or ADSL2?

no and no :)

as far as i know anyway. second one is a deinate no no and im 99% sure there is no connection fee.

This looks interesting, do the accounts have webspace and email? I took a quick look at the website but couldn't see anything, there are no posts about the service on adslguide, have they just started sell broadband services?

I'll keep my eye on the thread, I pay every 3 months over at F2s, so I will see if the offer is still available in January.

Connection fee is one charged by BT if you have not already got BB with an ISP. £40ish

If you have Broadband then its free to migrate :D

You can use whatever hardware ya want tho :)

nathan wonders if they will be able to handle the sudden influx of users as someone posted about it on adslguide :P

This forum is gonna see a few people :P

And do they require you to use their hardware ?

If you are currently with another broadband provider you can move over to IDNet for free, providing your current ISP will give you a MAC code.

If you are connecting your line for the first time, or are unable to get a MAC code, there is a charge of £40 (£47 inc VAT) for connection. This charge is from BT not IDNet.

You can use any compatable ADSL hardware with IDNet. You can also buy modems/routers directly from IDNet which will be pre-configured for you before they are sent :)

IDNet is prepared to handly any amount of customers at any time :) There shouldn't be any problems with the recent amount of new customers. The leased lines that IDNet utilize are of the fastest available, I think it'll be quite some time before they have to upgrade or buy an additional line :)

Idnet sound like they are the bomb but i wonder why i havent heard of them or there is not much info on them if they are so good??

by the way i have joined up to them next monday sometime!!

I might consider this cos Blueyonder is doing my head in. I got my 1mb broadband upgraded to 4mb for free, but what they conveniently forgot to mention is that "your internet may randomly go tits up for about an hour or so every day". :o

I've sent you an email XMS, the offer sounds great I'm hoping to get my MAC from my current provider ASAP but if they play up and it looks like I may not get it before XMas then I may take the hit to and pay the £47 new connection fee.

Read through this and most of my questions have been answered.

I'm with eclipse (who have gone downhill) and I was thinking of migrating to Zen.

You reckon these are better than zen?

This offer makes them cheaper.

How come they've laid it on for you guys? - It's less than half their normal price.

So no minimum contract and no migration fee with a mac code. Got to be worth a go - got to be better than the way eclipse is going.

Are they doing this offer elsewhere?

If too many people sign up on the cheap it may stretch their support lines.

Re modems ;

A good inexpensive modem is the Safecom samr4114, which is available at ebuyer.com as their 'ebuyer extra value modem', usually for around £25 or less.

There's some good tips in the customer reviews there for setting the internal firewall etc.

I'm a bit of a luddite but I've been using mine for 11 months now without any problems.

One of those rare bits of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin.
