Worst 4770k OC

I've been messing around with my 4770k for a few months now, and i started to wonder who have the worst 4770k when it comes to overclocking.

I'll start with my not impressive (but stable) 4.2@1.2V and my bootable 4.4@1.3v

Anyone that can beat that?

I'm sure if you used a few more volts you could get a few more MHz out of it. But the biggest question really is what sort of temps are you getting at full load??

Keep pushing until you hit the thermal limits of the chip.

well, at 4.2 @1.2 i hit 83-85 when stressing it with occt, and with 1.3V it idles at 65+ degrees, so id say that the thermal ceiling is hit on this chip, at least without delidding it, and i dont want to take the risk since i really cant afford a new one if i mess it up. My wife would kill me quite slowly if i did...

Doesn't seem all that out of norm. Haswell gets very toasty if it's not delidded. Delidding isn't really risky if you're, at least, a little mechanically inclined. Plus, the variant of overclocks is huge from chip to chip. Are you setting the ring bus/ cpu cache manually?

Edit: 65c idle at 1.3v seems quite high. Have you tried a reseat? What profile is the fans on the rad set to?

Jesus mate, those temps are ridiculous. What thermal paste are you using and how did you apply it? I would definitely have a go at reseating the cooler if I was you.

I know that the haswell are very random in quality, and i know that i proberly have lost the lottery, but still...
It should be said that at 4.2@1.2 it idles ~40-43 and during "normal" stress it never goes past 75, even with the grfx card running at 80+ degrees (this is with fans at silent setting). Its only with occt with avx on that it reaches the high temps, so i believe that cooling is adequate. When running occt i set the fans to max, noisy as hell, but fairly cool.
Since i thought that the temps was in the high end, i tried reseating it using arctic mx-4, with no notable changes in temps.

@cthul so far i have left the ring bus/ cpu cache untouched, since the temps is so high even at a somewhat low oc
