Ultra Products claim rights to the modular PSU design

A patents a patent and if they hold it they have every right to get damages. If the companies producing modular PSUs did not research enough and spend enough money on finding existing patents, thats just plain stupid. So what if they have waited, the offending companies shouldn't have done it (if there is a solid patent in place) in the first place.

You cant possibly say oh thats stupid, its what patents are for. Ultra have just as much right to enforce it as you do if you invent something.
QFT. Just like anybody else that sues on a patent they actualy own (And we KNOW they where the originators of the idea) we would want our money too if somebody stole our idea. Just cause they are a big company dosent make them any different. Id have to say though, that the only 2 PSUs id buy from them are the X3 1000w and X2 550watt.

I've used a few Ultra X2's in previous builds, they were actually pretty decent, especially for the price!

Then again I really hope they don't win this, it would severely cripple the PSU market.

Looks like Coolermaster aint in that list. OR could it be they made the escape

This is a rediculous claim imo.

It`s not as if the procedure is anything significant or enhances the psu.

People used to cut off/terminate cables that wouldn`t be used, attach connections to P1/2 to connect to newer stuff.

Terminating them off at the psu block by putting a connector housing in case u want to use them again is rediculous as a claim.

Now if the claim is that the design, i.e. psus that look exactly as illustrated in the patent pic, just for looks and arrangement, ok fine - it`s still stupid.

Not for cutting off cables and replacing them with connectors, that`s an aged old practice.

Wonder if the consoles that came after the Atari2600 patented cable ports on the console instead of wires running straight out. Equally as stupid imo. Pong boxes without ports - Pong consoles with ports, so u can unplug stuff - patent it.
