Ultra Products claim rights to the modular PSU design

They have every right to do it, but imo Ultra products suck and they are doing it for the money, why didn't they do this a yr ago? or even 2 yrs ago, this is lame and stupid, hope ultra gets sued for lousy PSU's.

Say what you really feel... :D

Dunno that ya can be sued for just being lousy can ya?? That would be funny.

Never used their products myself so wouldn't know.

Back on the subject at hand though.. I suppose they do have the right to question and take action but they are going straight for the most money they can get by law. Just shows greed to me.

They made some really nice looking (but essentially sh1te) PSU's a few years ago. Their new units have improved a lot tho.

I was taking a look through their site earlier and they do indeed look rather spangly, but again if they are a lil on the poo side then they aint for me.

Meh, if they have the patent then they have the patent. Their stuff seems to be of better quality now, and they manufacture a ton of things, they're decent.

Seems kinda crappy to sue them for this now though, waiting so long until everyone is involved sounds greedy.

Maybe they need money for R&D, since their products suck? ;)

As Mike said, their stuff is a lot better now. In fact I'd happily put one of their latest PSU's inside my PC. However, I wouldn't have spat on the early Ultra PSU's if they were on fire :p

this is STUPID if they get judge judy, they'd get thrown out instantly :p

but back to real life, because they prolly wont, its a stupid claim, beside's, all those company's when added together have some serious financial weight, and big name lawyers, so therfore....they must win,...i mean...really...

if ultra win this, it will just...

its just taking the

, and it might take some of those smaller companys to breaking point financially?

not a good thing...

This is weak from Ultra.

Can't wait for ColorsIT or some el cheapo brand to sue for thier patent on the non-modular psu.

EDIT: Just looked at the HP patent and that looks as much a modular psu as the Ultra. HP taking up the mantle? Seeking damages from 22 + 1 companies ?

A patents a patent and if they hold it they have every right to get damages. If the companies producing modular PSUs did not research enough and spend enough money on finding existing patents, thats just plain stupid. So what if they have waited, the offending companies shouldn't have done it (if there is a solid patent in place) in the first place.

You cant possibly say oh thats stupid, its what patents are for. Ultra have just as much right to enforce it as you do if you invent something.

Well that first link has nothing really... Also the point is even if it broke around a week ago it seems quite a few people reading it here hadn't seen it elsewhere so in that case is still worth posting.

Not up to me about the other link either so yeah wait for one of the higher beings :)
