The White Ghost of Watercooling

Ive had to do some fettling with the pipework from the bottom rad to the resovoir as the Blu-ray drive wouldn't fit in the position i originally wanted it. Fitting it above the res, it fouled the fittings & pipework, the next slot above that foulded the rad.

So i ended up moveing the dual resovoir bay up a slot, & putting the drive bay underneath it, which meant extending the tube from the bottom rad, & shortening the tube from the res to the top rad.

That in itself was no easy task, as my hands had little to no room to manoeuvre it into place, but plenty of persistence got the job done.

Ive also added a valve and koolances quick connect fittings to aid in the event that i need to flush or change the coolant at anytime.

But as difficult as it was, and the hardest being that short tubing from res to the top rad with the compression fittings in place, the end result looks great. Problem ive got now is the Aquacomputers D5 pump & its wiring.

Its got 1 molex connector, 1x 2-pin connector for a temperature probe, a 3-pin connector to connect to a fan header of some sort, and a 5-pin USB type cable thing (so they say), but the problem ive got now is both my USB 2.0 ports are already taken, even though them plugs are a 9-pin connector block with 1 pin blanked off for some reason on the plug end, & ive no idea where the pumps USB cable is meant to go on my motherboard (if at all)

Getting to the end of my 24hr leak test after filling my loop with Mayhems U.V white coolant, everything seems great. Quiet pump, but no doubt that will change when the fans are plugged in

Enjoy!!

I agree with the sentiment posted above.

I not usually into the whole UV thing that makes it look like it radioactive, but what you have used in there with the white components, makes it look really good!

thanks!

a quick question, because I cant find a definitive answer, but is my dual bay resovoir meant to be filled right to the top, or is it meant to be 3/4 full?

most are meant to be close to the top. On the dual bay rez's I have used I always ran them to the top.

ok, ill have top mine up.

I knew I forgot something! Awaiting some damn Sata cables, because withouth them, my optical drive & SSD wont be seen!

some daylight pix.....

Ive also bought some cable combs, for the cards, & im off to ask cable mod on what the delay is on making braided kits for the Superflower PSU's.....

Well, the big switch on didn't go to plan!! Best explain what ive done.

HDMI cable plugged into motherboard port at the back for my monitor. Switched my jumper for the CPU over volts to enable ( thought id do this since i have a K series CPU). Got the SLi bridge connected across my GPUs. All 4 DDR3 RAM sticks in, and even took out, reseated.

Switch on, fans kick in, lights come on, black screen. No beeps no nothing. So unless the motherboard has some sort of beeper, ill hear nothing anyway, as ive no speaker to plug in.

My keyboard and mouse that i only have is wireless, and run off a.USB thing. Plugging the HDMI cable into the GPU or using a DVi cable for the monitor still results in black screen, no Bios or wording or anything.

Swapping out my 4 RAM sticks for 1 corsair dominator stick also DDR3 that i use regularly use, didnt make any difference.

Anyone that knows this board, it has LEDs. The DRAM red LED was lit up, hence me swopping the RAM, with no effect.

Help?

EDIT: Ive since swopped the Jumper for the CPU overvoltage back to default. The LED for the DRAM isnt on anymore, but still no display. No idea why this jumper has anything to do with getting a display up, but hey. Still stuck :(

loosen screws that you attach motherboard to the case. Might allow you to boot. Hopefully you didnt overtighten them and damage the board like I did with my sabertooth Z77 :( R.I.P

also unplug everything and only keep what is necessary to boot. The little bios button on the back of the IO panel, make sure that isnt stuck as it prevents boot. (not sure Mark S has it, cant remember or cant check as I'm at work)

edit*

Is your EPU power cable plugged in?

Is that the plug at the top left of board? Then yes. I dont think ive tightened or over tightened the board, but ill loosen them, see what that does.

If they are tight, why would that stop it from booting? Just curious. Dont think the bios button is at the back. Ill keep you posted how i get on. Would having no keyboard that physically plugs in stop the first boot up??

No idea why but if you google it you would be surprised how many times it fixed the boot issue for some.

Worst case, you may have a faulty board?

Yes there is a bios flashback button on the back. I just checked it. Its very easy to push it in, and it gets stuck in the "in" position.

Ok, soon as i get home.this weekend, ill give both ideas a try. Just out of curiosity, & with me getting worried, is a 1000W PSU enough to run the 2 980's with 9 fans, 1SSD, 1 optical drive & 1 pump?

Not all cables into the PSU are used, theres like 2 or 3 spare from memory

You could throw in another 980 and you would still have enough power.

ok, update as promised. I loosened the screws on the motherboard, they weren't even that tiht, quite loose to be fair, now there even looser.

The button on the back above the HDMI cable pushed a few times, didn't feel it was stuck in....or if it felt in or an out position. just feels like a reset button type of push.

the 3 coloured cable along the top is in the CPU fan slot which connects to my D5 pump.....

3 slots spare on my PSU, GPU card cables unplugged, still resulted in a black screen.

I really cant see it being the motherboard, its going to be a pain to take out, & im sure its something simple. But im pulling my hair out here, & after the money spent, its starting to get me down.

only light on this motherboard is an orange LED in the bottom right corner, which the manual says it either means the system is powered on, in sleep mode, or some other standby mode. So im guessing its allways on if the system is powered on.

Im in no way knowledgeable in PC building, & even IF its a faulty board ( cant see it somehow) its put me off for life. nthe back of my mind, I knew something would go wrong

Why do you have the HDMI plugged into your motherboard though? Surely this only worked with Lucid Virtue, which was a thing on the Z68 platform, but now everyone has forgotten about it.

Maybe the bios automatically turns off on-board video when videocards are plugged in. I am assuming you've tried it with the HDMI cable plugged into the top videocard as well, right?

Edit; Also I don't know if you have 290s that run CrossfireX over the motherboard rather than via a bridge, but I've not seen a CrossfireX (AMD) or SLI (Nvidia) bridge on your GPUs in the pictures so far.

This is what used to help me, dunno if it will help you, turn off your PC, and remove the battery on mobo, for couple minutes, then put it back in, it may fix the problem, if it doesnt, your mobo is probably dead, or your capacitors are dead.

Hello Feronix, ive tried both cards AND motherboard outputs. Still same issue. With no OS installed yet, wasnt sure if even an output on the cards would be displayed. But yes, ive tried HDMI and DVi outputs on the cards, nothing.

I do have a bridge, i have 980's not 290's, ive tried both WITH the sli bridge and Without to no avail.

I shall try the battery. Would overclockers accept this back even though ive plugged it in? Used the blanking bits etc?

Is there an Asus representative on these forums that could advise me on how to definitively tell if a boards dead or not?

Im suprised with it being brand spanking new....

Does your pump run of the fan connector or is it just a speed indicator for the mobo to pick up? i would strongly recommend running the pump directly from the psu.

Unsure about that, until i get this up and running. I think its to adjust the speed, as it has a molex connector which ive plugged in, and that powered it up when i was filling my loop, which that is connected to one of my PSU cables.

Hope that helps.....
