The White Ghost of Watercooling

Ok, with half the month over with, next thing i need advice or help on is connections. Bitspower look really nice, albeit a tad expensive, but unsure wheres best to look for conections for my loop.

2 things im certain on, is colour. I either want white, to go with my white case & Rad, or, black chrome. But, as allways, im open to suggestions. Also on a side note, are swivel ones worth having, or are they prone to leakage? Reason i ask, is they might make installation of my tubing that little bit easier, but not at the expense of a swimming pool if its advised to stay clear :)
I've had not one single leak from any Bitspower or XSPC compression fittings. I have a few Bitspower 45s, 90s, rotaries, etc, and NONE of them leak. You can buy those rotaries with confidence about leaks. I even bought a crazy one that rotates in 3 different spots and it was leak free. :) Most expensive fitting I ever bought ($30), and I didn't end up using it. LOL! It's on the left in this pic:

Do like these fittings :D

I can vouch for the Koolance quick release ones, old twisty ones anyway, not had an issue with them, but I did get some leakage during transport from one of the rotary 90s attached to it, so they're going at some point. Not sure which ones they were, but I'm getting Bitspower ones (red or black, not decided yet) at first opportunity.

Been using EK compression fittings in 3/8I 1/2O, never had issues with them.

<EDIT>
Here's a link to the EK 90 degree rotaries I have. One of them has leaked on me, I think it's the awkward pressure that's on it, which will be alleviated as soon as I drain the thing for the new pump, but I'm thinking of sending it back to specialtech, might be a dud O-ring. It's only leaked in the transport incident I mentioned above and last night, when I was rendering some 3D models, so it might be just a random thing. I imagine this is the 1 in 1000 that's bad, but still worth mentioning.

Good news is that as soon as I saw the first leak I put some paper towels underneath all them fittings and left them there, so unless it starts spurting fluid, it's contained for now. I think it's the load I put on it after swapping the motherboard, but still - bare that in mind.

Ok, i apologise for the lack of update to this thread. Ive been made homeless, & two cars of mine needed work doing. 1 had clutch cable snap, as well as a major oil leak, so have had to buy new sump gasket, oil cooler,.and oil pressure sender unit. That 1 is a right mess, & costing me much too.

Other one, the rad has gone, & awaiting for that to be delivered. So 2 cars to fix , & find a new home, whilst continuing to work, is very hard & stressfull. So bear with me, updates will come thick & fast when its all sorted in a couple months :)

right guys, sorry for the lack of update in this thread. ive got a roof over my head, in a shared house, not ideal, but its got internet & bills are included in my monthly rental.

Anyways whilst ive been out the scene a while, im sure new things have arisen. So first things first, SP120QE's for the Monsta Rad ive got still ok? or are there some newer better ones now?

Im not too fussed on the color, BUT in saying that, white fans would fit in with the rest of the theme of my rig.

Once ive sorted fans out, I still need a D5 pump for my res, tubing, connectors, coolant, thermal paste & I think im good to go!

Im allways open to suggestions! :)

Nice to hear youve got a roof again. As for sp120s, afaik theyre still cool. Sure ttls new racing rig has em in it. Think noiseblocker eloops have white blades, but know nothing about their rad performance

right, as promised, more piccies. New stuff arrived today, my corsair fans.

The rad was so thick, it was one hell of a squeeze. I think I need a dremmel, but we'll see. It's in there nonetheless. Looking at it, the res may have to go up on drive bay, the Blu-Ray Player in the bottom, with my Card reader in the top.

Still need more bits, like pump, hoses, connections, coolant, but im slowly getting there!

Enjoy!!

Wow, this is beautiful! Nice to see it coming together so nicely :) Sorry I've been off the grid lately :/ Think I'm finally going to get some time to do this again, so keep 'em coming :D

Ok, sorry for the very long delay on this thread guys. Ive had 2 cara to fix up, & no money. Had a payout from an accident, so now its shopping time. Which means modding time!!

I "think" one of my GTX 580 cards has died, or is dying.... Well, could be a fault ive no idea, some yellow triangle under hardware, so ive no idea what that means or if its even fixable.

But anyways, on order are TWO GTX980's from Asus, Aquacomputer waterblocks which surprisingly are out of stock at the moment & their D5 pump which im still waiting to turn up.

But for now, some goodies. More pics to follow....

We got a Haswell Devils Canyon core i7 4790k, XSPC waterblock for it, some black chrome monsoon fittings, all to sit on the Asus Z97 Sabertooth marl 1 motherboard.

Im in for a shock, as im crapping myself, going into the deepend with my first ever watercooling rig....
.... Id pay someone to do it, but there is no one over here that will touch it, or is confident in doing it :(

Those bist are looking nice :)

Nice to hear you've not abandoned the project. Best advice I can give is to take your time with it. Go through Tom's guide (should still be on specialtech's site, but I've been living under a rock for the past year, so I can't be sure), and if you're not sure - we're here to help.

Good luck!

That is one phat and shiny rad :D

Haha, I was really shaky when I assembled my loop too. :D But honestly, it's not that bad. Watch videos, ask advice, take your time, measure twice, cut once etc. and ofc leak test it for a good while with lots and lots of towels covering everything with only the pump powered up and you'll be fine. :)

Yep, ive been doing a lot of measuring, & can only measure so much untill.hardware arrives through the door. Well first things first, the motherboards in. Bad news is, the monsta wont fit, as its fouling the board, & only just!!!!

Its where the thermal armor is right at the back of the board where your USB ports are. Its 7mm out!!! Now if i push the rad forward to clear the rear armor, itll fit, although its a bit tight, im not 100% happy with it, so ita gotta come out.

So im going to have to source a 60mm nexXxos rad on white now to make it fit, & sell the monsta. Totally bummed about it.....

After lots of measuring, from the back of my case, my powerpack measures 18cm. Ive allowed 6cm for the modualr cables out the front, which leaves me 31cm from the front of the case towards the back. So I'll get a nice rad in there, even for push-pull.

For the top, im going to have to get a 360 60mm thick in white hopefully. Im just not sure if its enough to cool two Gtx980's....

Won't the monsta fit in the roof in Pull? That's a Phantom 630? It should have the same internal layout as a Switch 810? Which fits a Monsta in pull?
