I have a 35mbit async package that works out pretty well. Pirce is amazing too.... TV (best hd package + HBO & Cinemax), internet, and phone for $120 a month after taxes.

Talktalk have moved their LLU into town

Double the speed of anyone else in town! Very happy so far. Moving to uni sunday though. Virgin media any good?

Is what I'm rolling with at home. We selected the 10 Down, 1 up option. I'm moving into my uni's halls of residence on sunday. I'll do another one of these then.



This is the best i've had so far at uni. I'm hoping it stablises over the next few days, as I've had results all over the place

7 in my flat, but only 2 others have paid for the Internet. And the times I'm awake, it's usually just me using the net

No wonder your uni connection is so much better than mine. I'm pretty sure that there's a 100Mbps going into the building shared between everyone. Could be wrong though

I'm not sure at all, they said 25Mbps (not MB as someone who didn't get the difference said), and I got the PC gaming perk, so I get higher priority, but from what I can tell it's either shared between 7 rooms in a flat, or each individual gets a connection, after all I have an individual phone number rather than just an extension for my room, so it might not be shared, who knows

We were not given the option of a PC gaming perk. If yours is a shared net connection between 7 people I envy you. The 100Mbps into the building is shared between 178 people. So basically at peak times, if connection is shared equally between everyone i'm lucky to get 0.5 down. The ping shoots up to around 300ms as well. It's just like being at home with virgin as they can't handle the traffic and so the local network goes into a fail safe, and limits everyone to 1Mbps until about midnight.

tl:dr: Damn you and your good connection.

The ping never went above 10ms to my knowledge, it might even be an individual connection, maybe I'll drop them an e-mail. I know some Unis have awful net services though

Any one had any changes tot here connection since last year. I no i have. I have had my virgin for 6 months now and what can i say apart from

Is amazing to say the least. 1gb takes less than 60seconds to download some times. And with the speed boost coming this year i can wait. 120Mb/s hear i come.
