Nooo, don't do it!
I have seen no performance gain whatsoever - it just makes my POST screen takes longer -.-
Is that because of the RAID controller initializing?
If I have to use the ASMEDIA SATA ports it delays my boot with a stupid ASMedia screen! I need the other 2 SATA 6GB/s but I have been running my data drive in sata 3GB/s instead.

It's the Mobo's RAID config screen. Takes a good couple of seconds.
Really don't think there's a performance increase at all. Not that I can see, at least.
Unless your Asus has a much better RAID controller than me, i'd stay away.

I doubt that very much. If I go RAID I'll get an interdependent RAID card. Thing is with TRIM enabled I would have thought you would see a drop in speed but then does the RAID (After boot) even it out to equal performance. Guess the only way to tell is to run something like ATTO benchmark and see what the max read and write speeds are.

Thanks to everyone who voted in the poll. I have decided to get a 256GB Samsung 830 Series SSD.

It has arrived and I am still gobsmacked with the performance over a HDD.

looks like i bought the only working OCZ ssd

The health shows the write cycles - OCZ drives dont die of write cycles, the controllers die.
Can happen at any time so health status doesnt really show anything. You may have got lucky though :) Just dont get your hopes up too much, it's only had a months use

Bossman just gave me a new workstation with a 250GB OCZ vertex 4, I've only had it for a week but I haven't had any issues and I run my equipment pretty hard... If I come across anything I'll make a new thread since the OP already made his pick...
