I dont remember a stripe on the side, I think they meant the sticker on the boot.

No way. MK2 was when they introduced those nasty bumpers that always turned grey with the red trims in.
Oh yeah, the MK1 was faster too

I'm such a cvh fan, my first fast Ford was a series 2 Escort RS Turbo, 1988 with 90 spec bumpers and spoiler, lots of chrome, and a reliable 200bhp from a 1.6l 8v lump.
And, as it turned out, an extremely unreliable 230bhp. Oops.
I then got hold of a 2.0 Zetec engine so cobbled together a 260bhp zvh hybrid, followed by a 340bhp Zetec turbo build.
Alas, the tinworm put an end to that particular project, but I've had fast Fords pretty much continuously since then up until 5 years ago when I found that motorbikes are even faster, way more dangerous, and a hell of a lot more fun.

Love the video, sounds like a great project. It would be really nice to see how it all progresses. You really need to get some air con up there tho, you looked like you were really suffering with the heat.
