I'm defiantly not doing SLI or Crossfire. One decent card will be fine.
I'm actually struggling to decide what's best for me. I need something that is fast out of the box, quiet and runs cool. When it comes to specs I will hold my hands up and admit I don't have a clue when trying to compare one card to another. I'm looking at the £500 to £600 range.
Best I actually research what I should be looking in a card.
Some other people will recommend a 290 (x), 280x etc, some will say 780 ti, I will still still go for the Strix if you want cool and quiet with good performance, or if you hold off, shortly (don't know exactly when) Asus and the other manufacturers are going to be releasing higher ram spec'd 780 ti's, you will have to have dig around and see if you can find out some info about it.
Here is couple of the reviews for it

Hope this helps a bit, but to me, from what you have said, it seems the ideal card for you
