New AMD Build List Help Needed

I'm going to build a new PC but need some input from experienced builders. I haven't built a PC since 2004 so I'm not quite up to date with parts. I have done as much research as I possibly can but I don't want to waste money on something I'll regret down the line. I'm looking to build something gaming focused but also capable of streaming and light video/photo editing. I'm not sure how well this build would do in 4k gaming but I will be using the monitor for current and next gen consoles too. I do want my rig to look pretty too but not at the expense of performance.

I'm in need of your guidance. If all goes well I will be ordering the components today or tomorrow.

Thats a strong spec list.

Only thing I would maybe look at changing are the fans. As they are RGB youd need a hub anyways and the CAM software can be a ball ache.

Id personally go H150i and then Corsair fans tbh (you still need to make sure you have enough lighting nodes for all your fans)

Thanks for the feedback governor. I wanted to use aura sync but quickly gave up on finding a compatible fan setup because it got confusing and tbh I really love the Kraken's looks. As long as it performs as good as the H150i I don't mind tinkering with software to get it looking the way I want.

I was thinking of mounting the rad on the vertical gap in the 011 case but still haven't figured out which direction of airflow is best for a case that uses 9 fans(God help my ears). Not sure if you have experience with this case but do you have any suggestions?

Regarding fans, I would personally stray away from those NZXT ones. If you want RGB i'd just get something else. Quality fans go a long way. I'd suggest Noctua Chroma(so they are black) with something to the phanteks rgb fan mount, basically puts a cover on top of the fans and provides RGB from the cover. But this is an expensive solution, so getting ones built in is probably smarter.


Outside of that, I would just fill the side with intake and the 3 fans on the rad as exhaust. Same old intake from front/bottom exhaust back/top. If you can put fans in the bottom, adding some there is fine too. You don't NEED to populate all slots, but you certainly can.

I realised my ram choice was c17. Would Dominator 3200 c16 work better?

Get whichever you want. There won't be any tangible difference between c16 or c17. You'd actually lose performance as your current Gskill one listed originally is 3600mhz and not 3200mhz like these dominators.

For ARGB fans, consider the very little-known Fractal Design Prismas. They are not cheap, but the ARGB is daisy chain, so you can just run them off your motherboard using Asus Aura. The AL-14 PWM versions have decent static pressure too (2.38mm/h20). No extra 'nodes' to buy, and no extra software. But $$$. I have quite a few of these now, in 120 / 140, *highly* recommended. They even have nice stickers, so if you want to run them in pull, they still look good.

I would also recommend a small SATA-powered PWM hub to run the fans. I use them in all my builds now.

I completely forgot about those fans. Yes I would also back his suggestion. I've owned plenty of FD fans, they are quality fans.

Think of memory timings as the number of clock cycles that memory takes to react and complete tasks. Tighter timings are preferable, but the clock speeds of your memory also matter (with faster memory, each clock cycle takes less time). So CL 17 on 3600MHz memory is better than CL16 on 3200MHz memory when it comes to memory latency.

Speed-wise, the sweet spot for Ryzen 3rd Gen is 3600MHz.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply with their input. I have ordered the parts. I post a list of the parts and some photos of the finished build as soon as I have, well, actually built it. I forgot how delightful it was to build a PC and I'm excited to join the PC Master Race once again.

Just as a quick update I went with the 3600 ram and ended up playing safe with some good ol' Corsair fans and their hub.

I knew watching all the videos and drinking all those cups of teas would pay off at some point. Cheers Governor!
