Just saying hi to all.
New to this "PC master race" thing,(Thanks Tom great vids).
I come from a time long-long ago before broadband was even a term,
we're talking Windows 98 to 2000 ish, when i used to help fix problems with
friends pc's thanks to "Windows & DOS for Dummies & all the other tomes associated at those times".
Been in the Mac eco system since the first iMac & although i prefer that OS to Windows,
i don't like the way they've become "boutique non upgradeable" pieces of tech,
for the well heeled.
So i've decided to rebel & build a Hackintosh based on a Ryzen 2600 cpu.
As i've read, this is the tough way to go (Ryzen) instead of intel, but being a masochist
it's going to be an ITX build with a Strix B450 (or X470 if funds permit) mobo
with the Sapphire RX 580 8 Gb graphics card. So quite a challenge with all that terminal
stuff & kext files to deal with.
Thanks to a very enthusiastic youtuber "Peter Paul Chato" i hope NOT to get too frustrated with the process, so it's going to be a long build project, (as i'm still rocking my "very well behaved" 2010 15" MBPro which i've had from new, no thanks to Apples updates :cussing:.
Any road-up, looking forward to my new adventure, i've got the case "Phanteks Evolv Shift in gunmetal grey & it's "Gorgeous" & researched some parts (thanks again Tom & all the other reviewers), & put together a parts list using PC Parts picker (don't groan, i've only got the case so far, i'm here for advice & help along the way).
Oh yeah! use wise, mainly ripping my Blurays & CDs to my Drobo 5N faster than at the mo, also archiving my records using Audacity to said Drobo. Will prob use Handbrake to re-encode movies for phone & tablet use. Apart from that, just web browsing Youtubing & watching Netflix on my big screen telly (for when the app on that gets upgraded & stops working), i might try a bit of gaming, flight sims & racing stuff appeals more to me than First person shooters,( i need a calm & relaxing environment in me old age) :-).
So have a look at me list & tell me what you think, am i on the right track with choices, or just making a rod for me back.

Thanks for reading this long tome & sticking with me t'ill the end.
Cheers All.

Welcome aboard, I am also old
Your list looks perfectly fine to me, maybe hold off on the cooler as the one that comes with the cpu will be fine so see if it fits before spending there.
Also check out prices for the new corsair nvme drives lower price similar performance.
I would suggest holding off till Black Friday weekend to get good deals

Firstly hello and welcome!

Just my few comments on the build :)

Are you not tempted to pay an extra 70 quid and get a single large M.2 rather than dual drives or do you need that for hackintosh?

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product...vo-10tb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-mz-v7e1t0bw

Any reason for the 2 different types of fans?

Ryzen comes with a semi decent CPU cooler as far as I'm aware so you may be able to save £30 on the CPU fan meaning the extra 70 quid on the M2 is now only 50

Appreciated!

I just like Green. :D

Yeah, it's a Hackintosh thing, keeping your Mac OS System on it's own drive saves hassle when Apple issues updates. Saves me mucking everything up.

The different fans are for 2 reasons;
I want a green glow from the bottom of the case as an intake fan & the other (having a higher air flow for exhausting out the back/ top of the case, just to reinforce the overall
upward air flow & hopefully improve thermals in the case.(at least t'ill i get an AIO)
which should fit in the bottom of the Phanteks case with the green one in the bottom/front.
The other reason is, as the Strix has got rgb, i want to supplement it with something in the lower half of the case, as the two halves are separated by a cross beam for the cables.
It's gotta look nice inside as well as outside, & i like green :D.
Thanks for looking & your suggestions.

Welcome aboard/back. Are you on the part of the South Coast that feels like it's receiving a blow job right now?

I'm literally on the beach and the noise is crazy.

You whaaaaat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If beach bums can get a blow job...... then yes i'm there waiting for me roof or fence to go flying. :wavey::yelrotflmao:

Let me guess.... mid or high tower.;)

Georgian. Was built as a rich man's house facing a race track, until they realised that the ground was useless, being on the beach. So they got rid of the track.

Probably converted into flats in the 70s.

I shot a video of my curtains doing the wind dance last night. Windows have stopped rattling, though it's very windy and VERY wet out there. Could hear the rain smashing my windows earlier.

Will walk down to the beach tomorrow and see if it's washed the beach over the bike path. Not that it matters, am I feck riding in this sort of weather.

Actually it's a bit breezy down here too today and cause i live close to water it means it's a bit cool too :)
Close to the sea here too, but high on a hill so i get the wind & the noise of the surf.
Glad i wasn't out in it.
At least my roof & fence survived the battering.Just have to clear up the garden next,
when i can be bothered.:)

Its rather nice where I am and forecast for tomorrow's parade is good
Hope the parade went well. Weather all over the place here but was a good turnout nonetheless. Very emotional this year, more so than usual. Don't know why.

Should subit the vid to "You've Been Framed" (Geddit) :D
I'm with you on the whole not riding in the wind thing.
Don't mind most weather, but wind just wears you out before you've got anywhere.
Miss me car. :-( But nowhere to part nowerdays .
