I built a new system a number of months back, everything but proper cooling anyway. I had planned on reusing my Corsair H105 before I saved enough for custom watercooling, but while stripping out my old system I found a slow leak in the H105. Wraith cooler it is!
Specs:
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact DTX motherboard
EVGA RTX 2080 Super Black Gaming
Crucial Ballistix Elite 3600 DDR4 16GB
GIGABYTE AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 1TB
CaseLabs Mercury S3
Corsair HX750i
Here's the messy state the system has been in the past few months
The residue from the leak left a sticky mess in the bottom of the case. Somehow it didn't end up on any of the old components.
Here's the case stripped down and cleaned off.
The stock Wraith cooler and stock GPU fan are fine for light duty, but once you do anything with them like folding or gaming they are loud!
The watercooling:
EK-Velocity CPU block
EK-Quantum Vector RTX RE GPU block
EK-Quantum Kinetic TBE 200 D5 PWM Pump-Reservoir Combo
2 EK-CoolStream PE 240 radiators
EK black ZMT
4x Scythe GT 1850rpm fans
Misc Bitspower fittings I already had plus a few more I grabbed
EK CryoFuel Clear Premix
Here are a few of the build pics
CPU/Motherboard
GPU
Front rad/res/pump
While filling the loop the premix was really foamy and generally not clear. Overnight though it cleared up and there are no bubbles left
The bitspower fittings with the EK tubing were a tight fit. I managed to make them work, but my thumb was dead afterward.
There was not enough clearance for the GT fans between the res and the top rad so I ordered 2 Noctua NF-A12x15 Chromax fans. I also needed a way to control everything.
I'm extremely happy with how the tubing turned out. Temps are so much better too. Running Cinebench R20 the 3900X would hit as high as 81-82C. Now it's not getting higher than 55C. It's boosting higher as well. Best of all though is the noise. Even with my fans and pump at full speed, the computer is quieter than the stock fans I was using.
My wiring is a nightmare so I'm going to make some shorter sleeved cables. I have red, white, gray and black sleeving. I was going to use a strand or two of red in there, but I think I might just go all black now. What do you guys think on sleeving color?
