Need a New Headset

Like the title says i need a new headset. My current one the mic is sometimes very quiet and the quality sometimes crackles when listening to music. Which would be a good headset for around $50. Here's one that i saw Zalman 5.1. The total comes to $60 after shipping and the mic are added.

What you looking for in it? and what soundcard do you have.

If you have a good soundcard and not THAT interested in competitive gaming and like listening to music / watching films, I would try some sennheisers or Technics, might be hard pushed to find them that cheap but they are immense in the sound quality department. I can also highly recommend the IceMat Siberia headset, one of the most satisfying purchases i've made to date.

The zalmans are good for getting into 5.1 gaming but the sound quality is average.

The SteelSound 3H headset we reviewed might look a bit ugly but I can promise will REALLY surprise you with its bass and sound quality.

I had the exact same set and they are quite good. Be mindful that the microphone cable is actually separate from the main headphone cable and this poses a risk of snagging. Clips are supplied to attach it to the main cable, but there aren't nearly enough imo. My pair developed a nasty crackle and a bad case of disappearing sound from a dodgey connection at the ear-piece itself. Overall the Zalman's are decent, and relatively comfortable for extended periods of gaming

Thanks PV when i get the money they will probably be the ones that i get. I know that the mic cable is seperate and it really doesnt bother me.

Ive got the zalmans and theyre pretty good. They sound good, but not top notch. And a few wraps of electrical tape and the mic being separate is no longer an issue.

Edit: They're also a total pita too get into if you want too fix them...

I was reading a review and it said that the bass was non-existant. Is this true? I know that bass is needed for CS:S and some of the music i listen to and if they don't really have any bass then i'll not be getting them. any other suggestions on some good gaming headsets?

The bass isn't non-existent. Its week but there. If you want masses of bass go for something else.

If you want masses of bass get the skull candys. If you want all round goodness get sennheisers, but they will cost.

I have got Sennheiser PC150 headset i gotta tel they are just amaizing. Totally recommend them, sound is fantastic, loads of bass. If you dont have that much to spend then i would recommend something like Sennheiser PC130 or Koss SB/45.

Now in css i totally pwn noob asses and they start calling me wall-hacker and stuff since i can hear them coming to me, fcuk i can even hear when cts break the window at the back by the ladder when i am @ spawn. Now thats some quality sound hey. Plus you have got to remember that good headset wont do anything if you ve got crappy onboard soundcard ;)

Sennheiser hd555's are great headphones though stereo you can here all the quiet noises like footsteps as well as having the quality for music

Medusa's get my vote, you can get them over here for £35+ Del. I cant fault them in any way, especially since i got my Creative Xtreme Gamer.

Do you know what the difference between the 150 and 151 are? I have seen more of them for about $40. I believe they don't make the 150's anymore but they have replaced them with the 151's.

Thats exactly it, they have replaced PC150s with PC151s. Have a look how much PC160SK retail for
