NB Block for Intel BadAxe

Hi,

As title says, can anyone recommend a NB block to fit on a BadAxe mobo ??

Am real new to watercooling, and read that generally putting a block on the NB/SB is pointless, but the cheap aluminium heatsink thats on this badaxe gets red hot, so would like to add it to the loop.

Thx

In the case of conroe MOBO's watercooling the NB is quite useful!

You may want to try an older dangerden maze nb block.

Thanks for the quick response.

Yeah, was looking at the DD blocks. There's 2 variants of the Maze 4 chipset tho (at least from watercoolingshop), one standard, and one for the 865/875 sets. Any idea which would be needed on the Badaxe ??

I've not taken the heatsink off it yet so no idea what kind of fitting will work. Also, stupid question, but I presume it's just an average sized chip under there ?? The heatsink is huge and rectangular, not what I'm used to seeing on a NB. It's also very close to the CPU, so hope fitting won't be too big an issue.

Cheers

Hi again all.

I've just ordered a load of stuff from SpecialTech, one one of the bits is this :

Alphacool NexXxoS NBX-i Northbridge Waterblock

I *think* it will fit on the BadAxe, but wondered if anyone had any idea. I've taken the passive piece of aluminium rubbish off the northbridge, and unlike the Asus the Badaxe has 4 of the little loop holes. This waterblock says it will fit the 8xx Intel boards with 2 or 4 loop holes, so I'm guessing it should be ok.

FYI, also ordered the CM Stacker with an in-built 3x120mm rad, the XSPC 5.25 bay res, and a load more tubing and bits. Can't wait till they all arrive. (Bodged up the top of my Eclipse by trying, badly, to cut holes for a rad - so the rest of the eclipse will get skipped).

I'm waiting on Alphacool to get back to ST on this point too. I want a kit for my NB on my Asus

EDIT: Pics and benchies had better be forthcoming :p

Yes, went for the Alphacool Stacker from SpecialTech, using the 10% offer (only just noticed the post count rule - hope no-one checks - will have to post lots tonight/tomorrow). Already had my eye on the Stacker, and getting the 360 rad installed was a great option for me. Gonna stick all my XSPC X2O kit in there, plus the extra 5.25 res, and the NB block. Should be a lovely setup I think.

Also bought the AeroCool CoolWatch to throw in the top.

I'll make sure to get some pics and benchies done :)

Another question - I got 3m of the 10/8 black metal hosing (plastic and metal) - the stuff from SpecialTech it says you can bend into shape. Has anyone used it before ?? I liked the idea of bending into shape and getting a nice tidy setup. Any thoughts ??

Kempez - once it arrives I'll let you know if/how it fits.

I'm sure I found some pics of the Intel fittings for it, and it looked like it would be ok - fingers crossed.

Kempez - it fits !!!! Perfect fit, and incredibly easy installation. Only uses 2 of the loopholes on my badaxe, so perfect for your board i would think.
