Hey guys, my main pc still hasn't arrived yet

But I have set up my render servers, and as they aren't rendering atm I have them folding. Think I'm not doing too bad already!

I'm running ubuntu server and the v7 client, but would someone be able to tell me exactly what flags I should be setting and how (from the gui). I have been looking around and they usually just tell you how to do it for v6 or for windows v7, not both

Hello and welcome aboard

I'm a recent folder myself, so not very knowledgeable at the moment, but I dare say someone will along to answer your questions.

I know I am a bit late, but never the less, welcome to the team.

Out of intrest, what cpus are in your render servers?

Just have 2x 2500k, the motherboards were the cheapest ones I could get (while still being reputable) so didn't realise that you couldn't overclock them until I got them set up. But them being render servers I want them damn stable anyway, so I would have only done a mild overclock at best.

Can't wait to get more on the go, think I am doing ok though! 92nd last time I looked! I'm getting about 30k a day, does that sound about right? I had some wus today that made it reckon that it should be getting 60'000, (from both together) I don't know what I should be looking at to make sure I'm getting bigadv or whatever?

30k from two 2500k @ stock is probably about right. But it really depends on the work units.

On my 2600K @ 4.5ghz I get anywhere between 20k and 40k depending on the work unit, the 40k being the exception rather than the rule.

You might expect two 2500k's to produce more points than an overclocked 2600k, but it's all down to how the bonus points system works. Two CPUs at 1ghz (given everything else is equal) can crunch the same RAW data as the same CPU at 2ghz. But because the folding at home bonus points are based on how fast the work unit is returned the 2ghz CPU would produce more points (assumeing the same work units are the same) over 24 hours even though the same amount of data will have been processed.

As for BigAdv, thats only for systems with at least 12 cores (or is it 16 now? I forget).

As for the overclocking. Can't you atleast force the Turbo mode to use the maximum multiplyer with all cores running?
