How was i ignorant? I admitted i was wrong. I just stated Apple could more openly give more credit to Unix. Yes they say so but not enough to wear it would actually benefit Unix getting more customers etc. They are working together after all.

Here's my suggestion for you. Leave this thread. Simple. If you will just keep referring back to my one mistake in an agrument that was settled already then just leave so others can make constructive criticism.

It was you that brought up the ignorant comment several times and I still don't think you know what ignorant means. I gave you the definition though. By the way how old are you? Just curious.

And as for Apple, I've never really liked them, Yes their products look slick but for what they are they are sooooooo overpriced.

I have to agree with that. I bought a Razer mouse for £40 and it barely lasted two months. Must have been a glutton for punishment buying another one though touch wood it mostly works.

Well, when I say mostly it drops from Windows a lot and flips the order of all the buttons when I plug it back in. And that's supposed to be a £120 mouse. I shudder to think how annoyed I would be if I paid that for it !

If you think £40 is bad, I'm currently using the Razer Mamba. Cost £99 when I got it. Over time both rubber grips on the sides fell off (they used cheap glue) and the wheel on it developed a squeeking sound when rolled. I was able to repair both issues myself but the quality on their products do not reflect the price by any stretch.

Wow really? What case is it? I didn't realise numbers went that high for cases lol.

I'm quite curious aswell now ^^

Caselabs SMH10, see buildlog here.

Of course the case itself is not that expensive, but with all accessories, shipping and VAT it
came pretty close when all was said and done. I just looked it up quickly:
  • Case + Accessories + Shipping: 885.10 USD
  • VAT: ~ 65 USD (this was in CHF, not USD, so only an approximate value here)

Total ~ 950 USD

Arh i've already seen that. I had a look when you was helping me in my watercool topic :) It's very nice i must admit.

What accessories? Do you mean like optional extras you can choose when buying?

I've never had good experience with macbook build quality. My now defunct macbook air was supposed to do the job of this archaic laptop I use for college. Nope. It had many issues and Apple's "legendary" after sales support was bum. Which is a shame considering my 3rd gen ipod touch is going strong and I was amazed about how little the macbook weighed.

Not all windows latops are garbage. Lenovo thinkpads and some of the dell laptops.I still have my first laptop, A Dell C600 with windows 2000 fully working. I also have my lenovo which I believe I'm the third owner of(yay ebay). Sure it has less power than your average toaster but nothing has failed or fallen off. Unlike that ****ing macbook.

I'd still go for an iphone over anything with android though, it must be said. But then again I'd take anything over this Symbian phone I have.

Yes, exactly. Radiator mounts, fan mounts for the 5.25" bays, additional 5.25" bay mounts,
vertical struts for mounting additional stuff to the case, additional mounting plates, a ventilated
bottom cover instead of the solid one and the Silverstone 3.5" USB/Audio I/O bay device.

They're not that expensive on their own, but they do add up. Also shipping was ~150 USD.

So true. A lot of people seem to have had bad experiences with Dell's consumer line (I've
never had one of those), but their business line is really solid. My first laptop was a Precision
M60 from 2004, and it's still working flawlessly. Granted, it's rather slow for today's standards,
but it's still working. And it's not like it's just always been on my desk, I took that laptop to
high school daily for about a year and a half. And the XT2 I'm currently using is also very nicely
built. Sure, it's not a solid alu case, but it's still a really sturdy and nice machine.

As for Lenovo: I've had one so far (the X300), and it's... well, it's Lenovo

Yeah they're made like chit tbh.

I can't remember what one I had but the buttons squeaked so loud when I pressed them I threw it away. Salmosa? god knows.

I've got the Boomslang 2007 now. I really thought that a mouse that once cost £120, and being the legend it was, it would be built really well. It's average build quality at best. The so called "Titanium" is just painted plastic and it's rubbed off in places. Thankfully I only paid £35 from OCUK in a clearout and got a free Tshirt so I can't complain too much tbh. But holy hell if I'd paid £120 I'd be flying over to the USA and ramming it up their buttholes.

I would take a good android phone over an iphone. I hardly play games on it so just speed over the browser is all i would really care about. Then again i don't feel the need to have any smartphone. Waist of money.

this. especially as a person who doesn't use facebook it's just a waste of money.

Sad thing is, it's very hard to find a decent phone that's not a smart phone. Naturally, "decent"
is a relative term, so even if I can't find something to satisfy my needs, it's entirely possible
you can.

this. especially as a person who doesn't use facebook it's just a waste of money.

I'm not a facebook user (never had an account, hope to never have to get one), but I have found
eMail to be incredibly useful to have on my cellphone. But of course, whether or not a cell
is of any use to a person depends entirely on their usage patterns. For me, it's not worth
it to get the most super high end device (although the HTC one looks balls, and for a build
quality fetishist like me, would be awesome), but something decent is nice to have.

Currently I have a Motorola Razr i and am quite happy with it. It's pretty much vanilla android,
wasn't too expensive and build quality is pretty great (that's always very important to me,
I'll go for a lower spec'd phone with high build quality any day over a higher spec'd one
that's made of cheap plastic).

i'm not really an email person atm, as a student i mainly get junk mail.
i am still using a nokia xpressmusic 5800, i think they started manufacturing those 5 years ago. all i need it for is music, messages and oc3d when i can get wifi. i see no need to upgrade because i would use a new phone for the exact same purpose.
The only reasons for me wanting a new phone is that the build quality of my phone is rather terrible and it's a pain in the arse to type something because my fingers are as big as three buttons.
A good reason to keep it though is the old touch screen, i like that i need to apply more pressure on the screen because that means i can swipe slightly over my screen without 10000 apps opening, it's very convenient. and for a pressure touchscreen the 5800's is pretty damn accurate, not like those cheap 50€ phones you can get which don't react until you start scratching them with a rock.
but i guess for the button size problem i would need to get a galaxy note or something similar, i once typed with the s3 and i made even more mistakes than with my nokia. but that is definitely not worth the money.

I agree with both of you. I have a "basic" (i guess that's what they are callin them now) phone that does not do any internet that was made 3 years ago. Just text and call. That's all i need and i don't have to pay a required monthly internet fee like the smartphones which can get up to 100$ easily.

Social networking apps are a waist of time on any phone. So much drama happens on there(where i live) and it's utterly pathetic. Why would i read shit i don't care about? I ask my friends why they even have smartphones with facebook etc. and they say mainly to keep up with the drama and know whats going on...

They waist almost 90$-100$ for that reason every month. Just like the hundreds of other people i know or see. Most have iphones unfortunately and thats really all they use it for. Sad but true.

If you're after a decent non smartphone 'phone I'd reccomend most of the various non windows OS Nokia phones. They last for ages and (as far as I'm aware) all of the symbian phones come with free Sat Nav, they don't even charge you for the 3g it needs to run.

Oh,before anyone says it they're really not smartphones, despite what they want you to think :P.

:o :o :o

I get 1 Gig for 15 CHF (~16 USD) and as long as I don't start to heavily browse on Youtube
or other video sites I can't even get remotely close to using that up. Often, there's a WiFi
nearby which I can use instead of the cellular connection, but even with going 100 % cellular
I would have to work quite hard to use up that one Gig (unless, as mentioned, streaming, but
I don't really do that on my phone).

Disclaimer: Of course that is without roaming, those prices are just b@tsh*t insane :o

I could not live without my smart phone.

I easily can. I have been for about 5 years now and i do not plan on getting one unless i absolutley have no choice. It is not worth it for me, but everyone is different.

Ya i don't see how people here can ethier except that students are always on their phones on facebook, instagram etc. and not doing any school work. I'm no nerd but it is so annoying when every minute a teacher/professor has to tell people to put their phones away so the few who care(me) can actually do something with their lives.

Companys here in the US know this and so they charge for a 2gb limit $30+ and for the 4gb limit it is $80+, but if you go over even .1 of a kilobyte then that 30$ now becomes 60$ and that 80$ over 120$. So that is my response on that note...

This is one of the main reasons i feel no one in school/Uni should be able to use smartphones during those hours. At least where i live.

Ah, I completely forgot about that. Since I never go over my limit this didn't occur to me, but
I think this is actually similar over here.

This is one of the main reasons i feel no one in school/Uni should be able to use smartphones during those hours. At least where i live.

Especially at Uni it just seems so bloody unprofessional imho. We're adults (usually, more or
less), doing an entirely non-obligatory education because supposedly we have chosen to be
there out of our own free will, and our parents (in most cases) are paying a rather substantial
amount of money for us to be there. What's the point of going to a lecture when you don't
pay attention anyway? I just don't get it. :headscratch:

When people stop raging over iphones and apple is king then i will actually start to like them:people that is.

I can't see how people even still like the iphone.. too tiny:p
