the thing that annoys me about apple is the price/performance. and the level of control they inflict over everything.
they charge stupidly high prices for underspecced and sometimes outdated hardware. if you compare the hardware in the iphone 5 to the S3 the samsung is so much better.

the restrictions on customization really annoys me which is why my iphone 4 is jailbroken. not for the free apps because that doesnt bother me. its the tweaks that makes the device so much nicer to use and live with. things that apple should have put into the ios as standard.
the only good thing about apple imo is jailbreaking their devices. if i couldnt JB my iphone then i wouldnt have even bought it

Just want to mention that my previous post was one hundred percent sarcasm
Any graphic made would most likely have a Microsoft logo hammering the crap out of an Apple logo, which i'm not entirely sure I support

I'd much prefer a graphic which shows the Apple logo and the Microsoft/Windows logo working together peacefully, used by those who want to use them and not judged or criticised for their choices. That's what I support

I created this thread so we could discuss if Apple was or has ever been an inventive company. I should have known someone like Vicey would come here guns blazing:ar: Defending them at all costs with an excuse at every corner.

I never said i did not like Apple. I do NOT like the fact they are a shady company(reasons have been stated earlier in thread) and are holding the industry back. IMHO i believe Apple needs to actually work with other companies and not sue them after they are finished and wanting to claim everything is their own. Those are a few reasons i put them down.

Oh and Vicey, mine as well not even argue with me if you just want to call me ignorant and ignore the main part of the disagreement. Lame but it is what is.

As I said in my original post, Apple aren't inventors they are widget makers. They make products using other companies components. I think a lot of people are just upset that Apple is able to do it better than their favourite company. It is just fanboyism that's all.

And I quite clearly have stated three times now that you were ignorant of Apples UNIX marketing. Which you were. Please look up the definition of ignorant.

alternative. which runs like crap. + the hardware is usually crap so gaming doesnt work well (or ofc you pay three times the price).
hate the game? when some dude breaks another dudes leg at football we blame football but not the guy? apple treats everyone who isn't 100% on their side like crap. they sued an university because their logo was an apple and ruined them ffs.
also from what i've heard the newer versions of osx should be rather bad as well.
the longevity would be a valid point, but only if i would want to stick to my stuff for 7 years. when you treat your windows system well you can run that for years as well. also why not a linux destribution instead of apple? you don't pay the stupid price, you have all the customizability and you won't be treated like a kid by PC users.

It doesn't run like crap. Doing the same thing in Linux usually runs crap but then I haven't ran Linux for a long time so I can't really comment.

The new version of OS X is great but lacks multi monitor support IF you want to use "full screen" mode aswell. However Apple have confirmed a fix is coming in 10.9.

OS X is like £13... Who's says you need to own apple hardware? Personally I wouldn't own anything other than an apple laptop at this time cause everything else is shit. They might bost impressive specs but they're cheap and nasty. With a desktop I don't think the quality is really needed as the pc sits in one spot all the time. The hardware also tends to be better in the desktop area anyways. Besides that its way more fun building a computer than just buying one.

Linux... Ugghh. The simplest of tasks quickly turn into a mission. Linux can stay on my server, I couldn't use it as a primary OS.

The pc in my sig is my hackintosh by the way.

There's a lot of kids here that just won't listen to reason.

Price keeps coming into things and I don't even know how many times people have justified it. When you've gone through as many laptops as I have as we'll as the ones people have ask me to repair, you can physically see how cheaply they've been made and how MacBooks piss all over them in that respect.

If people want cheap through-away laptops that perform well then that's fine. More than fine! Personally I would rather pay a premium for something that will last much much longer and can take a beating. I don't even know how many times I e dropped my MacBook and it still runs perfectly, though dented somewhat. I've even had it drop out of my bag and fall down the stairs!

I see it as a tool and as such I want it to still run great and stay in one piece no matter how I treat it.

So that's that. No more whinging about the cost please. It's been justified several times now. Find a new argument you can be corrected of educated on.

Then there are those that like pc's and those that like iMac, Macbooks and Macpro's. Again, each to their own

I use both everyday and prefer OSX but will use Windows without a fuss on main rig

The thing about cost is that it's quite a personal thing whether or not something is worth a certain
amount of money to you. Sure, Apple's margins on their products are probably higher than many
of their competitors', but it's not like a non-Apple laptop is anywhere near its true value. Markups
on electronics are ridiculous through the board anyway.

My dad used to work with Cablecom (a Swiss cable, internet and phone provider) and he once told
me the setup boxes you need for decoding the digital TV stream costs less than 10 USD for the
company to buy. I don't remember what the price is for which they ultimately sell the thing, but it
was something between 60 CHF and 100 CHF I think, which is a ridiculously awesome margin
to sell something for if you're a company.

I'm sure margins are not always this great (especially in the low-cost segment) but Westerners
have generally a hugely skewed idea about how cheap this stuff really is to produce in China.

In the end, every person has to decide for themselves whether or not they are willing to pay a
certain price for a certain product. I mean, I paid almost 1000 USD for a computer case, which
I'm pretty sure is absolutely ridiculous by most people's standards, but having it before me and
seeing how awesome it truly is, I have zero regrets about my purchase.

I was never offended lmao. I do not have a favorite company and not a fanboy.

How was i ignorant? I admitted i was wrong. I just stated Apple could more openly give more credit to Unix. Yes they say so but not enough to wear it would actually benefit Unix getting more customers etc. They are working together after all.

Here's my suggestion for you. Leave this thread. Simple. If you will just keep referring back to my one mistake in an agrument that was settled already then just leave so others can make constructive criticism.

Wow really? What case is it? I didn't realise numbers went that high for cases lol.
