I am oldskool.

Good morning all. I am not usually up this early but the phantom doorbell in my head went off at 6:50 AM. Cue me rushing to the door in my Star Wars dressing gown only for no one to be there.

So just a text update for now. The water cooling parts should arrive today. My aim is to hopefully get the res and pump mounted and attached to the rad. That is usually the hardest part and takes a lot of tinkering and taking things in and out..

Sadly nothing at all of note arrived yesterday :( the postman came and went and I then started the "big sit" for Hermes. I was busting for the toilet but instead sat until 7:30 PM waiting because I got an email telling me they were coming between 5-9pm. Pee take if you ask me. Any way, by 7:30 I needed the toilet so badly I phoned the courier who said he wasn't coming because he was sick, FFS. He could have replied to my text at 12 noon, then I would not have had to bottle one up for 7.5 hours.

I think he has the monitor and the sound card. The monitor is fine obs, won't be doing anything to that. The sound card however I want to box in like I did with the GPU. So I could do with that here.

So yeah, unfortunately that's about it. Made loads of orders last week yet none have materialised yet :(

Stuff like this is why I flat out refuse to use Hermes, had parcels late, damaged, thrown over gates and all that.

I know how you feel with waiting for orders. More of an anxious wait than the build up to christmas as a kid lol

Oh g0ggles, please don't get him started on Hermes, you'll never hear the end of it! :o ;)
(not saying it isn't justified though)

Well so much for him turning up at noon. Liar.

The OCUK stuff arrived and I assembled the res. Not sure I like it really as even when assembled really tight you can still pull the ends off. This means the pump will need to me propped up to stop it pulling the res apart. PITA !

Because of my mistrust I have set up a "faux loop" and am going to run it for a few hours and see if anything leaks out.

Looks like they've used a larger version of the compression fittings for acrylic tube so it's essentially only held on by the grip of the o-ring against the outside of the tube. They must be good because Primochill are certain people will copy them! :o

CTRs are certain to be copied, but remember that PrimoChill’s are Made in the USA

What makes the NEW CTRs so unique and not like anything on the market today is the ingenious compression ring end caps that make a water tight seal without the need to cut or tap the end of the reservoir

It's also "unique" for a tube res to not have the ends of the tube cut or tapped apparently. I suspect that Aqua Computer may argue that point as they use a glass tube which isn't threaded either.

Only problem is you can't hang a pump from it ! Would have been completely screwed had I used this res in the triad ! I'm going to have to support the pump from underneath somehow. Got an idea, should work :)

My Hermes delivery just turned up before yours....and so began the sport of Hermes racing! Don't think they'd let us paint numbers on them (that's how you know it's a proper race!) but we can just get them to deliver large painted numbers - say 200 miles in opposite directions? :D

This res. What a piece of crap. Firstly if you pull the ends they come right off and then the brackets? sheesh, I've never seen something so bad.

Last night I figured I would spend some time playing around with the rest of it. The brackets are awful. Truly dire. Firstly the guide hole that the M4 plastic bolt is supposed to go through was tiny so the bolt would not go through it. So I took both brackets to the kitchen and dremeled the holes out so the bolt would fit through. Came back in and the bolts then aim about 2mm out of the hole (I just made them larger, not changed the position). Any way, I go to do up the first one and it gets about 2mm in and then pops and has threaded itself because it's plastic. So the whole bracket falls off. I try the other one and it does exactly the same thing. So I dig around for some M4 metal bolts and start doing one up. As soon as I can let go of the bracket mech and turn the screw a half turn more (so it actually holds the tube and doesn't slide around everywhere and I hear *SNAP*. Yup, bracket snapped in half.

So now I have no way of mounting the res. So I go off to Youtube to try and make sense of it all and the brackets I have are handily left on the table in the video whilst they use clear ones I do not have.

Probably because they are crap. Not sure what to do now, too sick to care atm (man flu).

Well with some good luck, and having to settle on it sticking out ever so slightly I have it fitted and connected to the rad.

When I feel better I will tackle the mobo and get it looped.

Current state of affairs. As you can see, the next job on the list is wiring the FP. This is why I have printed out the page.

Which reminds me, I installed and played Gunman last night and it was as smooth as butter. Still makes me laugh how it comes up as Half Life in running apps :D OK so here is how the inside is looking right now.

I am hoping very much that the Grid+ arrives today so I can hook up all of the fans etc. Lith, this is where your badge lives now mate :)

Still left to do.

Make a BP for the sound card.
Design and make two more acrylic panels.
Fit top panel.
Fit Grid+ and then use my Win 10 PC as a mothership to set up all of the fans using CAM, which will then make them remember :)

Rat nest be gone.

Software all finished. Even got WIFI and a browser working.

Still lots to do. Back plate for sound card, two more cover panels, get Daytona USA (not deluxe) working (got a few leads on that !) and then of course the LEDs and so on..

Nice. Isn't it customary to brag about your 3DMark scores about this point? ;)

Not even tried that, nor have I succumbed to temptation in bios and given it the 2500mhz it continually waves in my face when I go in there lmao.

There are two EZ settings. 2000 MHZ (stock) and 2500, literally at the selection of an option.

First I need to find a temp monitor etc. Not done any of that yet.
