I am oldskool.

very nice job , and i enjoyed seeing the progress

Long way from done fella ;) Still loads to do but I am over the hump as the yanks would say.

Ooh, a Turtle Beach. Haven't seen one of those since it was the ultimate in sound card brands. Nice.

Yeah same one I walked into PC World and handed over more than £100 for in '99 dude. Gotta say with my cheap headphones it sounds pretty good lol. I have just finished painting all of the visible green bits and it is drying, will lob it back in tomorrow and get some more pics :)

Sound card finished.

Nice. I was going to suggest that you could just remove the 3.5" bays to get more space for Res/pump....but then I spotted that you've got a floppy drive in there. You old-school die-hard!

Yeah it's only really there to block the hole because I don't have the bay cover. I think I need to flash the bios though, so it will prove useful at some point :)

Forgot how bad a 48X CDROM sounds when it spins up and hits that resonant frequency where everything rattles and buzzes.

That oughta fix it.

Forgot to mention. I bought this keyboard on Prime for £20.99 the other day. Have given it a quick test, works as it should and the LEDs are fun too. Specifically like the shooting outward thing. Any way here it is here.

Any way, this morning I was looking for something in my stuff drawers and I came across these (not literally that would have been messy)

Ahhh the joys of Bipolar disorder. Buying things and then having no recollection of actually buying them lmao. I remember buying the Alien ESC key (it was £6 !) but I have no recollection of buying the red WASD keys at all.

Thanks dude. I have had to order some more modding materials so I decided to take a couple of days off. Still pretty sick tbh. I've overdone it and got to the point of exhaustion.

Treated myself to this.

It's suitably filthy so will need some cleaning and opening/lubing etc.

Progress..

Just two more internal panels to make now :)

hmm im not sold on the chrome alien logo. I think you should use your logo skills and make a black vinyl alien avatar like your Alienware font. I'd feel the flow and black/orange theme would fit nicely with the polished black case. It could be because it is the only chrome piece in the entire photo, but to me it seems a little obtrusive.

One of the finishing panels will be black with chrome on like the back plates for the sound and video card. I prefer the one on there to flat. Just personal preference really man. That's why it has kinda stalled because I ran out of black plexi and needed some other supplies. Probably a good thing because I have been as sick as a dog. I think it was full blown flu I had, not a cold.

Postman is coming today. Hopefully with LEDs and a couple of other bits (more 3M tape as I am pretty much out of that) and then I can get to doing some more work.

Last night though I hooked up the speakers I will be using for this PC (Edifier snails)

zwSZVE3.jpg

Which look amazing next to the old Dell monitor. They tilt at exactly the same angle :D These speakers are amazing because they have a subwoofer in the bottom

DdnReHR.jpg

As well as a "dummy" reflex unit. So both sides of the bottom part have air shifting woofers. So I loaded up Daytona and god damn that Turtle Beach sounds incredible. I ended up sitting here with the attract mode running for about two hours. Then I decided to jump down onto the floor and have a "quick go" of Daytona. God damn I was rusty ! after about five races I finally started getting my drift distances correct and braking points and man before I knew it I was sliding around with reckless abandon :D Then I set to unlocking the cars and again before I knew it I was clipping/bouncing off the Sonic wall* and getting incredible lap times on the oval.

* The only corner you need to brake for is the one with the picture of Sonic The Hedgehog on it, AKA the "Sonic wall". However, if you just clip the nose of your car on a certain part of the wall you skip off of it losing barely any speed and thus you can produce unbeatable lap times :D

I also had a quick flick though my game collection yesterday.

It's vast....

I was actually looking at those speakers cause I have limited space on my desk, and they look very good

They sound even better Eddie. Get the right sound card on them and they thump :D

OK so today's fun began about 30 mins back. The postman came with the LEDs etc. However, one thing that has always boiled my pee is how easily LED strips come unstuck. It's annoyed me since the dawn of the things. 3M my ass. So I decided to add this before even attempting to fit them.

Which was an absolute nightmare. If it touches itself you are in big trouble. One of those jobs where you need like ten hands. Eventually I got them in (apols for poor pic quality the weather is crap)

Can hardly see them which is what I wanted. Here they are in place, they will never be removed.

And on the underside of the box

And on.

So now I have to get a 240v cable into the PC somehow to power up the PSU. Then I found this little snap out hole.

yAV1ZEL.jpg

So now just some soldering, braiding, tidying etc and it will be done.

I have watered this down a little in case it upsets the "If you swallow bubblegum it sticks to your insides and kills you !" brigade. So I've not taken any pics of testing, making switches and power cables etc.

First remove the bay covers.

Then snap out the metal parts.

Power supply.

You can see the inlet cable here.

And then where it will reside.

And the inline switch I fitted.

KZbY6mh.jpg

So now I can turn the lights off independently of the case etc.
