Household Spider...or something more sinister?

Just spotted this under the daughters bed....



Now it well may be just an oversized house spider in which case you can all tell me i'm a wuss, but when trying to catch it it was lightning fast. Also when I had it under a glass it was jumping about and you could actually hear it scuttling like no spider I've ever caught before.

Ideas?
 
Online shopping you lazy sod! There open 24hours a day now you know :p

Thats a garden spider by the looks, as we live in an old house we regularly get them coming in from the garden through the air bricks, nowt to worry about and its keeps the flies down :)

Moved some garden waste bags yesterday and there were a few under there, pegged it straight up the wall to the air bricks before i could squash em.

Mind you we have a cat and it loves spiders.. hours of fun and a tasty snack at the end of it.
 
You massive baby. Try living in a farm house :p

It's just a garden spider as lasher said, very common and they get a lot bigger. I hate the buggers, they can move seriously quick
 
im just glad james was home to deal with it cos otherwise i would have had to phone up colchester zoo to deal with it,

James your my hero LOL

Yeh mate its a common garden spider... We found a few this week tbh should is say my daughter did i ran away like a wuss ...

I just stomp all over them .. think it has some thing to do with this crazy weather were having.

If you want more though i can send you down a couple of plants with thousands of eggs on them ..... sure it will be fun watching them grow ......
 
Jim has a matchbox with them in and lets them out when he's feeling like some lovin - plays the hero, gets the reward.

You'll never see compo from last of the summer wine and Jim in the same room.
 
i thought it was a wolf spider TBH what with him saying its jumping and things,and its color but yer like someone said its the wearther we have been having,some can bite tho
 
its true i got nibbled by one a year back.

Caught it coming through the door so let it run onto my hand to usher it back outside them it nibbled on my thumb.

Gave me a right old shock i can tell you that.

I'm afraid it got the stamping treatment for that.

When i lodged with a crazy lady with four Boxers they would watch them crawl across the carpet. Occasionally go and sniff at them them run away.... hours of entertainment :-)
 
they dont like deodorant :) When I was away a couple of weeks back our lass used almost a full tin on one under the dishwasher. Needless to say it died but smelled lovely :)

This one would have jumped its way on to the worktop, landed on the gas hob and proceeded to run around the house while on fire, setting everything in its path ablaze i swear :p

mmm, now where have i seen a sequence with a burning running giant evil spider before :-)
