Yep - the architecture of the 9600/9800 was so much ahead of any nvidia card at the time that nvidia fell behind.

That is: till the mighty 6 series came along!! :worship:
 
yes but only at very high resolutions or with lots of AA/AF. but atm the gfx cores are so advanced that this extra memory isn't needed on todays games. but it may help on a 9600xt 128 vs 9600xt 256

Actually I lied...the 6800 Ultra 512mb (or the x850ct PE 512mb) is probably the best...but the x850xt PE is £380ish.

Just go on any decent site.

I would still put the X850XT PE ahead of the Nvidia , even though it might have the extra 256 megs of ram. The real thing right now is that no game out there is actually using that much ram . And the more ram u add to the system , the looser timings they have to use which in turn makes the card run slower in a game where that extra ram isnt being used.

Yeah I thought it might be edging ahead...but its still worth putting the 6800U in that 1337 list I think :)
 
I think I may sell my 6800 Ultra now so I can get a good price for it, then get a G70 when it comes out. I must think hard about this!

EDIT: Actually I may get the X850XT PE, then sell it later and get the G70 :jerkit:

Probably not a bad idea Austin, get yourself a GT and OC to an Ultra... That's what I'd do at least.
