Yup that's all u hafta do :) Molex refers to any molex style power plug, which there are a few different designs. What's most commonly referred to as a molex in the computer industry is the 4-pin design, the kind that plugs into your HD's and legacy drives.

Yeah I was just about to post this:

A molex is one of the 4 pin connectors that come off of your power supply. I think your 9600 may already have one attatched. Just insert it the right way (it only goes in one way) into the slot on the card for it (usually on the end), and your away :D

here's a pic:

ok firstly you do not have to do much configuring to your operating system. windows will pick most o fit up automatically and all you must do is install drivers (which will be provided on a cd) and this is as easy as installing any other program.

i will take you through the card installation my way.

you open the computer case one it is turned off and power plug is pulled out (pretty straight forward)

as far as i can se your 9600xt doesnt have an extra power lead going into it. it is power from the agp bus. so nothing complicated here.

unplug your monitor from the VGA port on the back of the card.

at the back end of your agp bus (the brown slot) (the end near the middle of mobo) there is a white plastic notch which holds your current card in place. This has to be flicked out to release the card. you can see it here.

you may also have to use a screwdriver to release the screw holding the pci slot in place. keep the screw in a safe place.

now place one hand on the side of the card nearest the mobo. place the other hand on the metal part on the front of the card. gently pull it from the agp slot, wiggling it from side to side if need be.

when you have the card out..place it on a non static surface or ideally inside the anti static bag your new card comes in.

now to install new card..

with the white notch still in the unlocked position plac the card (heatsink on the downside) into the slot, lining it up with the back plate hole. gently push the side of the card nearest you and again wiggle until it is fully seated into the slot.

now flick the white notch into the locked position to keep the card in place.

now get the screw you took out and fix the metal part of the card to your case.

you can see the hole it needs to go in.

once that is secure you need to connect the external power source. in the top right hand of this pic you can see where the molex will plug in. you should have a spare molex with your psu, if not a splitter shd be provided with gfx card.

once the molex is plugged in you are good to go! put the side window back on, plug power in and start up computer. windows should tell you it found new hardware and you can then proceed to install the drivers.

that kept me busy for a while :)

OHHHHHHHHHHHH lol ur version is way BETTER lol sorry for the trouble ;)

tht sounds pretty easy! to do

Yeah a got it Davo....it would be a toughie to call between the two...but I think I'd go for the 6800U 512.

The G70 is out soon, so maybe wait for that? I dunno if you want to, but it may be worth it... :D

well there is no real release date and waiting sucks...its up to you man

It's being announced this month I think.. The release date should be announced then too :)

you are the news man, u shd tell us!

Well due to that fact that a: I'm not an nvidia spokesperson/nvidia partner spokesperson and b: nvidia haven't actually said when these are released, I can't actually say.

I think July time will be about right, so it might be worth waiting....although AGP may not be out straight away (if at all). Actually I think AGP will be out, but it will be delayed.

So maybe the 6800Ultra is your best choice. Ummm....more opinions are needed :p

lol dave has a point!

n since you have enough cash, you could buy that one for now, then upgrade when the other one is released, then you are up to date all the time!

hmm well looks like a have a bit of a decision on my hands lol well iwill see wat happens soon

wen the newer one arrives the 688 should drop in price but i dunno

I don't think they'll suffer a drastic price drop...but they may drop $50. But then if you want it now then get it now.....whichever one you get it will perform amazingly better than your current card (although its still a nice card) :D

yeah the radeon 9600 is a good card, it is comparativly better than my nvidea geforce fx5500 but the only thing i have thats better than the radeon is 256mb of ram on my graphics card
