It`s an existing idea they`re catching onto and adding some flavor.

A fair number of eastern-made free to play mmos have been doing it for maybe 2 years. What happens is if u need to do something ingame that has a cool-down, something like ur minimap will turn into an advert.

Crossing zones is a favorite one, as they show some ads and have linkage. Once u finish messing about with the ad, the game continues.

9Dragons has some such ads, many of them were korean when I played it 23/6.

Be interesting to see google`s approach in the wild.

I dont mind how some games have the adds like GRID, BF2142 and such. They are there and it sorta makes the game realistic. Like driving through Most Wanted and you see a McDonalds or something.

Imagine playing fallout and some nasty mutant zombie will offer you meal deal in burger king

personaly dont like the idea, it can grow up in wrong direction.

Depends how its implimented tbh. As PP says, in the likes of nfs it works. But if my character started yapping about tampons or something id be most unimpressed.

I see no problem with in game advertising, provided it is not blatantly out of place, certain "advertisements" work, such as macdonalds graphics on cars in racing games.

Billboards and Shop signs/posters etc add to the realism and environment of FPS games i reckon, it makes the maps feel plausible.
