Cosmos 2-Sauron LOTR Edition Case Mod.

A has too small a window for me, it's between B and C. I think I probably prefer C, I like big windows xD

I think it's great that you're so passionate and motivated to do this when you're only 14, and with that in mind I think people should be a little bit more considerate as some of the posts sound a bit harsh, even if it's unintended, it could really knock a young guy's spirit.

Indeed, A has a to small window, the design of B i must say is really impressive but i don't know if that would fit the whole build theme. it seems to be something in the future design related, instead of C being just as perfect as it is

I must thank you for your words! They motivate me a lot, I don't think the people want to be "mean" i think they want to show me that i can do better. :)

Another idea again!

I've got another idea for this project!

I will remove the case feets and the case top handles. put some nice casefeets and on the top i want a text to be on the sides like this

500px-One_Ring_inscription.svg.png

It means something like this

"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them."

So, think that there will be this red LED plate will show of the text and it will blink slowly.

What do you think?

love this idea mate

Agreed on this one, definitely option C for me. B still obscures too much of the M/B for my
taste.

Yeah, let's not break the newbies I'd say. ;)

Having said that, my piece of advice @OP: Looking at your logs you do indeed come across
as extremely enthusiastic about modding, which is good, but I get a little bit the impression
that your enthusiasm sometimes gets the better of you and makes you rush into things a bit
(see the RAM mod).

Trial and error is a perfectly fine approach to things if you're OK with the occasional hickup
(I certainly do it myself often enough), and you have so far (at least from what I've seen)
reacted well to feedback (many people sadly seem to lack that ability) but my general
recommendation is: Take a breather once in a while, sit back, relax and just let things stew
in the back of your head for a bit. Or, to paraphrase: Patience, young grasshopper. :)

Many of the ideas for my builds have come from just waiting a bit and thinking on things
(whether or not they are actually good ideas I will let others judge).

And of course, when actually implementing an idea, patience is even more important, there
are few ways better suited to screw things up than rushing the blade, so to speak.

I must thank you for your words! They motivate me a lot, I don't think the people want to be "mean" i think they want to show me that i can do better. :)

That's the way to handle feedback. :)

I quite like this idea. How do you intend to do it though? Getting a highly ornamental font
such as this one to look right seems very tricky to me unless you have access to something
like a laser cutter. If you do it by hand, then most certainly do it extremely patiently and don't rush
things, and make sure you have the right tools (a fret saw and some extremely fine files
maybe? Not sure). Of course it depends on how large the end result should be, but getting
this right will require lots patience and skill as far as I can tell (unless you can get somebody
to do it for you).

Not that I'm trying to dissuade you, but I'd rather have something not done than done
poorly. I certainly recommend thinking very carefully about how you're going to do this
before doing it, and then doing a practice run on a spare piece piece of metal/plastic/wood
before ruining the case's original side panel.

I like the idea, just make sure you do it justice by doing it right. :)

Too true Alpenwasser,
I spend a lot of time just sitting looking at the job with coffee in one hand and a smoke in the other

Your long essay :P

Alpenwasser! Thanks for helping me and take me back to earth!

I totally agree with you that i flow away from the earth sometimes. But in this project i have promised myself to not fail. that's the last thing i want to do!

About the Window!

I think i'll go with the C alternative. it shows of the components much better and the whole build will be alot of sexier!

About the Led plates on the top and maybe the front!

I think this idea is one of the nicest ones and i think i'm going to let someone else do it because i want it to be perfect with the "breathing" leds

So i will not do anything to the case right now!

I will need to sit back and discuss with myself. and see if it's possible to do.

I will also use my patience a lot of better!

Between!

Your name shouldn't be Alpenwasser...I think Gandalf fits better old wise man :P

Yeah "Gandalf" is one wise man :P

With regards to the writing, there are a couple of ways I can think of doing it, but to be honest I'm not sure which would be the better look.

The quick and easy way would involve etching an acrylic panel and attaching it to the case where you want it. Big drawback of this option is that it may not look very good, which makes it not worth doing. Being quick and cheap to try, I guess it can't hurt to try it out.

I think, if it were me, I would opt for cutting the panel itself in the shape of the letters/runes. I would imagine that you would need a laser cutter due to the detailing...

The only other way I can think of is engraving it into the case, but I'm not a fan of how this can look.

Edit: actually on reflection, I PERSONALLY wouldn't bother, because I don't think it would look to good in any of these ways.

Love the idea behind this.. Anything with LOTR in it, I'm there! Can't wait to see the progress

Thanks! It makes me very happy to see that so many people are looking forward to see the result/progress. :D

Thanks for your response i think it will look good, and it will look good :P

How i'm planning to do it is still a question :)

I'm alive!

I'm alive!!!!

Welcome back, and i would like to apologize for that not that many updates, actually there hasn't been one in weeks... :3

But...I've actually have thinking about new mods and I have some really good ones...

So what i have done these past few weeks is that i have been making a new "plate" for the motherboard etc, i have been making my own front panel, and i have been making a new top, they are soon heading to DMfinearts!

And i promise that i won't be lazy i will go for this build all the time i got, nothing is going to stop me

Getting the USB-panel naked and the other stuff that goes with it.

What am i doing? :O

A nice Christmas present from Mom and Dad.

Stripping the case down.

And then it was done...Almost...

The green carbon is there for helping the front sticking together, will solve it ASAP.

So this it what i have done, not so many photos, I'm trying to make them better instead of many and ugly, he-he :-)

It's everything for now, and hopefully there will be an update soon ;)

Happy holidays and awesome New Year!

Sincerely,

A mini Update!

Have made a new place for the fans on the radiator, I have made new places for the HDDs, no photos but you will like it ;)

The Fan controller is getting something new :P

When your rig is done ( or when your testing ) could you tell me what you think about the cm jetflow's (the noise on a radiator, pref , airflow , ... ) cuz i am considering them for a little build i'm doing.

ps. your build is getting better by the minute

Hello there! :P

My Rig is far away from done, but i have tested the fans.

They are doing their job! They push a lot of air into the radiator, I'm using 2x 120mm Jetflos fans for intake on the radiator and then a 1x 120mm for exhaust. They are a little bit of noise when you have every cable on highest RPM, but the good thins is that you can slow down the speed either with a 4 pin extender that slow down the Fan to 15 decibel i think it was and also another cable down to 21 decibel that Cooler Master send with the Fan package! So i would recommend this for you if you have a Fan controller or would like to use the extenders!

Hope that gave you a little input! I'm here if you would like to ask any further questions :)
Ps. Thanks a lot!

Welcome to my latest update!

Well i'm not so satisfied with the ring inside the resorvoir. should i take the "panel" in the middle?

Love the ring in the reservoir, Looks evil and middle earthy ^_^.

I've got an idea for your window, You could get a custom decal made in an etched glass effect with the rings writing :), Would look so cool !

Something like this maybe in the centre of the window to go with the theme of the ring :)

http://www.kustompcs.co.uk do custom window decals, I had one made just the other day in fact :)
