Yeah. I will as soon as I get the info.

I just rang BT, they say that my house had a line up to July this year. I moved in back in August. I haven't seen an boxes, however there's a wire leading into what looks like a telephone box (only with a blank front). The wire doesn't seem to do anything. How hard is it to rewire a telephone socket?

BT told me that if there is a line they can have me activated in 5 days and they can give IDNet a "order number" or something so IDNet can connect me even before I get a telephone number.

If they have to get an engineer around it'll be 1-4 weeks!!! before the line is back up.

I am praying I can sort it out myself!

Tom

Tom,

give idnet a ring, and say you are referred from sysxtreme, im sure xms can give you a direct number or something. they will be able to help you much betetr than we can.

Thats ok man. Thanks for the help.

On the website it says that it's £40 installation + price of modem/router. Does anyone know if that's still the case?

if you have got your own gear to connect to the net then i dont think it costs atall to move - well atleast i hope not!

PM XMS - he knows what to do

I was recommended this by Matt (kempez). I'm currently connected with IDNET and a line test I just did gave me:

Upload: 288

Download: 2206

I had an initial problem with the hardware I bought for the connection. Rang IDNET's tech support line out-of-hours and left a message for them to ring me back. They rang me back in under 2minutes!

IDNET did a line test and it was not their end. Matt (kempez) came over and got me up and running in about a minute!! :o

Speeds are awesome and its so cheap compared to the rest of the ISP's (at the deal price)

What can I say: nothing but praise! :D

To say that they are the best ISP i've ever used would be an understatment.

I've been with them for about 1 1/2 years now, and never had a single problem.

They are fast, their tech support is great, and they are better than Zen and Nildram (which i've used in the past).

xms i am currently with plusnet and have had nothing with problems with them but was thinking of going to zen intill i heard what you were putting about idnet i am now trying to get to the 20 post min so i can try out idnet :) but can you tell me if you use usenet with idnet??

octomon are you on about moving to idnet and if so who are moving from??

No mate. I have no phone line as of now. I am using Now wireless internet. It uses radio transmitters. I called BT today, they tell me there was a line in the house up to July. I moved in during August but I can't see any line. It wont cost for installation, but it might take up to 4 weeks(!!!) to get an engineer here, plus it's christmas.

One question, I think there is a line in here. There's a box that looks just like a BT socket but it's blank on the front. The wire going into it isn't connected to anything. How easy is it to wire up your own box? Because if I can do that it'll only take 5 days to get a phone and BT tell me they can get the ADSL on the way to connected even before I get a phone number!

I personally don't use usenet, but if you want to drop me an email and get me to test it for you i can.

TBH if you can get it with other ISP's, there will be no reason you cant with IDNet.

Your exchange has ADSL broadband.

Our initial test at your postcode indicates that you may be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides 1Mbps, 512Kbps or 256Kbps line rate. However due to the length of your line the 1Mbps service may require an engineer visit who will, where possible, supply the broadband service.

If you decide to place an order, a further test will be performed to confirm if your line is suitable for the service you wish to purchase.

Thank you for your interest

No you cannot before 50posts. A rule brought in when we had an idiot who decided to SPAM all members
