don't you get an email address when sighing up with IDnet? i thought that's how you set up your modem. or am i off the track?

IDNet will give you a username/password and other information to set your router/modem up, but thats about it.

If you need an email address, you can either contact them to get an @idnet email address created, or contact me if you'd like an @mailxtreme.com email address.

Hi there moved to idnet today from aol what a difference i am seeing allready wow the speed is great so far so good. got a question i have join on the £14.99 5mb deal as i knew i wouldnt have made the 25 posts before i needed to migrate do you think i will be able to change to this offer through this forum once i made the required number of posts? All though i dont download an awful lot so i may not need more than 5mb but it would be nice to know i can download if i need to.

As Mr_Fishbulb says, you phone up to get email address's configured, in my email from Simon, he said I could have thousands if required. I sould be a IDnet user when I get home tonight.

Hi Kevb,

Once you have made the required 25 posts, drop IDNet an email, i'm pretty sure they will be able to help you out :)

i'd second that. by the way just got my mac code (wow that was quick) so her's looking at you kid's. :D can't wait. lol

I know we all join an ISP in anticipation of staying forever, but in practice for some reason it usually does not work out. Unless you are really strapped for cash then as Ramedge suggested a domain name is the way to go, even getting them hosted seperately (I use QiQ) it is not expensive and moving ISP you keep the same email addresses and Web address.

Permanent E-mail address:

Don't forget that only yahoo.co.uk and yahoo australia ( http://au.yahoo.com/ ) allow FREE sending and emptying via your puter's Outlook/Outlook Express/Opera etc via your IDNET e-mail address

yahoo.com does not!

IDNET is absolutely excellent!!!

I migrated from another isp and was activated on the 21st Dec. I just got a bill from my previous isp for all of December and it looks like they still think im with them. When I previously have migrated the old isp acount was cancelled automatically. Is that not the norm ?

i was hoping to have a permenant email address via IDnet server as per my (what shall be history) ISP. due to some forums and web site menbers facilities do require a static IP address. not always can i use MSN or Yahoo as these are not static. but thanks for advise.

Wll you would have thought so, but i guess you'll have to keep your eye on that, i have just received an email saying if i am connected to my new (soon to be IDnet) ISP before the 15th of January (that's my rebilling date) the email quotes:

' It takes BT a minium of 5 working days to action a migration, but your new

provider may have a longer timeframe for migrations.

With this in mind I would suggest that you need to start the migration request

ASAP so that you are moved before the 15th.

Unquote'

That in mind, does not tell me that if i am to be billed for the rest of the month. ......something i will be keeping my eye on!!! so if you are out there and wanting to do the same watch your previous ISP for any future bills.

Any of you guys had problem getting mac from your isp hope to move over to Idnet soon and asked twice for mac also phoned £1 per minute say they will email but no show.Is there anyway around this

hi YORKIE.

as per quoted today by XMS..'Get in contact with your ISP and re-request the MAC code and remind them that they need to give it to you within 3 days, regardless of your account status with them (as per Ofcom rules).'

Try sending numerous emails to different depot..try to go to head of sales and tech depot too.

I am sure XMS will have more of an idea than me. Tyr looking up Ofcom rules and report to them if you have to.

Let us know back here how you get on, i am in proccess of migrating within the next few days. quick i know. But they seem to know what they are doing and never heard of any bad reports about IDnet. that's why i'm migrating. Keep on with this forum ppl here are very freindly and most helpfull.

Good luck:p

Thanks for that info, will take your advice to be a pain in the arse, i think it might work ,but will let you know ,anyway lets know how you get on with Idnet, bargain at 14.99 5mb i thinks

Just a little info ...

The deal is 14.99 no caps / unmanaged etc so if you are signing on this deal via SX then there is no 5gb limit.

Secondly those who are not sure about their contract with previous ISPs , you should check with your old provider if you need to give them any notice when you are leaving them , as most companys will try to get extra money from you stating there was 30 days notice in the contract but they will still give you the mac code and still charge you for extra month as you supposed to give them 30 days notice. So make sure to ask your old isp before migrating or canceling which in such case tell them before your billing date that you would like to migrate out 2 weeks before your next billing date so it works out roughly 30 days notice.
