Hey all,

I am looking to do a full on clone / backup of my boot drive, basiclly I have a hdd in my work pc that I brought in (wd green 500gb) and I want to exchange it for a smaller one (since i am leaving soon) as i am only using 100gb of it and i could use it on my home pc, although I don't want to be re-installing windows and all the programs, drivers and stuff. I have seen something like this www.xxclone.com although I am not sure can you of you give me a good suggestion for a boot drive / partition clone software?

Love the forums,

David.

Have used this to clone a UEFI boot drive and it worked flawlessly :) like it hadn't even changed!

Chuck it on a usb/flash memory card (I have mine on an SD card) boot from it, and go!

Edit: AVOID norton ghost, I bought that, and had to get a refund as it doesn't do UEFI partitions

And yes, it's worth paying for and keeping a copy handy for backups etc :)

I'm not sure it will to tell you the truth, I seem to remember trying and it won't let you do a full one, or it won't boot properly, can't remember off-hand.

It's easily worth it's cost though, just for the amount of time/trouble it will save you. It literally just makes a complete clone of the drive, no muss, no fuss. Leave it to copy, come back to it and your new drive just works straight up :)

Not been so pleased with a piece of software in a very long time.
