Asus Xonar DX or Asus Xonar D2X?

The time has come for me to finally give my old G35's the boot and upgrade to a decent headset and sound card combo.

Headset wise I've gone with the Steelseries 7H, but I'm having difficulty picking a soundcard.

I was going to go with the Xonar D2X at £80 (inc del) but then I saw the Xonar DX for £54 (inc del) and it got me wondering if I would actually notice the difference? I don't use desktop speakers, and my primary use is for fps/mmo gaming, listening to a bit of music and talking to mates on TS.

So basically I would love to hear from those of you who are knowledgable in the world of pc audio which card would be the best option for me? and which would really take advantage of my 7H headset?

They are pretty similar, the D2X just has a few extra features and it doesn't sound like you will use them with your set up so I would go with the DX. The audio quality difference between the two will be unnoticeable.

i got a D2x as a prezzie, if i was buying with my own dough then i would have gone for the DX and it sounds (excuse the pun) that you are using it in the exact same way i do, so the Dx will serve you very will
