purchaced a p8p67 from amazon and stared to have a few issues with it and after a bit of digging around it turns out they sold me a old motherboard rev1.xx in a rev 3 box.... or am mistaken

also found a different serial number using SIW,

not very happy at the min, any other places i should be looking for my proper rev number and serial number.

cheers guys

Aria. Just RMA'ed my Asus P67 B2 board with them, and it went as smooth as silk... Now got a shiny B3 one...

Just had a look, if you go to the Advanced Menu, on the main tab there is a heading "South Bridge Stepping". This should say "B3 Stepping".

Hmmm I think it does say that tbh. I will have a look after work. Also concerned about the different s/n I got in siw. Going to have a better look later. Still shouldn't be having so meny problems with it

What issues are you having? Supposedly the only difference between the B2 & B3 is the updated sata2 silicon fix on the P67 chip.

Have you updated your bios?

15o3 bios after update. Freezing in windows. Sometimes won't post and power itself down. All components detected in bios. Tried and tested differnt psu ram gfx. Tested out of case. Still not had much joy as yet

What memory are you using? I think these boards are quite sensitive to memory and their voltages. I still haven't been able to run my board with 4 sticks of 1.65v memory, but 2 sticks is fine.

8gb muskin redline ridgebacks in slotes recommended by asus. Also tried 1 stick.

Also tried 4gb stick on xms3 and 2gb of cheap hyundi stuff. All clocks and speeds detected as they should.

Short of reflashing bios and reintalling windows I'm short of options

Thanks for your responces btw

I've got the Mushkin Blackline Ridgeback 6 8 6 24 1.65V 2 * 2 GB kit. When I tried to add another 4GB kit it wouldn't post?... What I did notice though was that it was trying to run it at 1333 instead of 1600 and was setting it to 1.5v.

I'll keep a closer eye on ram although I did notice it was detecting muskin @ 16oo and corsair @1333 as it should. I'll have a look into what volts there pulling soon as I can

some mobos will detect that extra memory has been added upon BIOS boot.

some BIOSs will prompt that the system has changed and offer the F1 button to change settings, or F3 to continue !!!

1.65v is not a standard boot voltage for ram..... so, as the mobo did not know what the extra memory's capabilities were, it defaulted back

... and that memory can only run at 1333 @ <1.65v

For my board problem I'm going to rule out ram and most other hardware problems as I have had my i3 system in bits and used a lot of its parts to test this board, guessing its something in the bios or a software problem. I have just managed to get into windows ran prime for 2o mins on my lunch break no issues top temp was 65. And stable. Turned of prime then froze on idle about 5mins later... Can't see anything worng in bios.

Possable bad bios flash or do I just return the mobo?

All drivers are installed and up to date. Uninstalled intel storage driver as I read something about a ms generinc 1 was better on rev 2 but same story...

Checked windows logs but nothing reported about it crashing.

Yeah hard drive is set to AHCI. Anything else like that, that could easly be overlooked? Any sugestions are welcome at this point...
