Advice on best fan?...

We should narrow all these down, between OEM and Original.

Enermax, Phobya, Aerocool, Lepa, Noiseblocker, EZCool, Corsair, Noctua, Coolermaster, Akasa, Rexflo, Scythe, EK, B-Gear, BitFenix, Silverstone, Cougar, Delta, Geild, Evercool, Swiftech.

Alpenfoehn make some sexy 140's too. I would just go with whatever you like the look of and suits the rig tbh.

I must have had 30-40 Corsair fans, like I genuinely no longer remember. One was DOA and replaced immediately by Corsair, all the others have been flawless. They feel nice and look nice. They have some nice touches, very clean moldings and all black wires and connectors. For the money which is usually very reasonable they are great, plus they are so easy to mod it's easy to see why they have been so successful.

Edit. Actually dude..

The round ones are not that good on rads they don't seal too well. I forgot about that sorry !

Well if there was a perfect fan, then we wouldnt need to ever discuss it  too bad it only exists in my dreams. Would have to rewrite the laws of physics to make my 'perfect' fan possible

Me personally i would avoid Corsair fans. Its not the fan or anything that's bad, pushes a lot of air but to me they are to loud(own the Sp120 QE's) on 12v and on 7v when i used to have the rig about 4ft to my right it wasn't as quiet as others made them out to be. I even had them in a FD R4(which cuts down noise considerably from my personal hear testing w/window vs solid panel) and i could hear them. Again not bad fans but with my sensitive hearing i can hear them... then again not many people have cases super close to them so if they were any further at 7v you would have to literally focus for a while to find the air sound.

+1 This

You must of been unlucky, i have run them on 7v & 5v they have been quiet i could only hear them when i put my ear right next to them, But your ears must be better than mine :p

But at the end of the day its up to the OP on what he gets :)

Ya like i said, nothing wrong with the fans, just to me to loud at 7v compared to what everyone claims... just me though.

Really the best fans are the ones you pay more for. It's down to design and specific function you need. What use you need it for really seperates which fan is best and then down to design. With fans you get what you pay for.

Nah not just you. The AFs are noisy. Not that the noise bit bothered me as I couldn't really expect that rig to be quiet but definitely noisy.

I've never had problems with Corsair fans. They seem reasonably priced, SP fans anyway. I tend to use them over other fans but thats because of price/reliability. Not so much a fan of their other products if I'm honest.

They are the probably the second quietest fans (after some old quiet antec fans that can run really, really slowly) I own, then again I buy the quiet edition fans and run them at a low speed so I'd expect that. If you're going to buy 'performance edition' fans then I can see why you'd find them noisy.

I own 3 SP120s and they vibrate a bit, mainly while used with PWM.

I also have a NF F12. Best 120mm fan ever.

If I manage to get enough money for a custom loop I'll definitely use a 420mm rad with 3 NF A14s.

I thought that Noctua only had to make their fans all black and not for Industrial use ;)

But at the end of the day its up to the OP on what he gets :)

Surely it is... but the thing I'm after is basically to have them as an intake in the front of the Aegis, but since it's quite restricted in the front panel and not like the Fractal Design Arc Mini/Midi cases, I thought I'd ask here for a nice fan that can actually cope the job, with regards of the restricted space.

I know that the FD R4 and R5, both are like the Aegis in the front, if not even more restricted.

So you think that the Be Quiet Silent Wings 2 140mm and Noctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm both can do the job?...

Concerning the BeQuiet! I can talk, not for the Noctua's.
In my R4, I run a passive cooler on my cpu (Xigmatek thor's hammer 32° idle, 45 load), and on my GPU (7750 38° Idle - 60 Load). Motherboard temperature never exceeds 42°C, and that with the fans at 7V. At 5 volts temps rise a little, and at 12V you can substract 5° at load on all components. So yeah it does the job pretty well :)
(FYI 2 BQ 140 in front, 1 120 on exhaust at the back, my second 120 is in his box as a spare :p)

^Blade design looks a bit hmeh to me. The back shroud is just a copy of the Silverstone AP series - not bad fans either now I mention it.

I think it won't matter too much and either fan will serve you fine tbh. It's not like you're going to see a temperature difference (depending on RPM, of course), so the only thing you're looking for is silence. In that case I'd go with either the Noctua's, or BeQuiet fans if you want better looks.

Haha yes, the Silverstone's aren't bad fans at all... I just have noticed with all of mine, which I got for nothing, whenever you simply put a dust filter next to it, it's quite louder.... which wasn't ok to my ears.

That is what I think I've forgot to mention, after now 6 pages of this thread... is that are the Noctua NF-P14 Redux PWM 140's and BeQuiet Silent Wings 2 140's "quiet" when putted right next to a dust filter or so?...

Thanks

Inaudible for me, the only moment i barely hear them is with my hear right next to the front of the case with them running at 12v. How to explain... A breathe, no clicking or rattling, just a whisper and when you put your hand in front you really realize how much air they are pulling !

I think to be fair it's not going to matter which fan you have, if you put a filter infront of it your going to get turbulence from it. :( I've noticed a slight audible increase after changing the filter in front of my AF 140s but I see it as a trade off, slightly louder and less dust.

Aye, I agree you're not going to see a lot of difference performance-wise. Pick whichever you think looks best out of all the options given in this thread. :)

Well based of Pogal_31's response of the Be Quiet! Silent Wings 2 140's I'm a bit interested in those and based of Barnsley's first post of the Noctua NF-P14's.

So those are the 2 options that I'm looking at :)

But if I ask you this guys... which one would go for, regarding the Noctua fan?... the square shaped fan or round shaped fan?...
