Advice on best fan?...

Hey guys,

So I'll be getting the BitFenix Aegis as soon as it's releases, but I have something that I'm "concerned" about though... the front intake part of it, kinda like the Obisidan series from Corsair, are kinda restricted in terms of space for the front intake fans.

So I'm wondering, what/which ones you would recommend and personally use as intake fans on this case?...

Which one would you pick out of these ones, or do you perhaps have any other recommendations yourself? :)

I'm not a huge fan of LED fans anymore, so more of a non led fan if you can recommend any.

Thanks guys,
Chrazey

I would say Corsair, but i'm bit of a Corsair fan boy :p

How, what and why?... what makes you say that? :p...

Noctua fans are legendary. They're better built then most cases, and use incredibly high quality motors. They're often quite a bit more expensive then anyone else, but you do pay for what you get.

This is all true, the research and development that Noctua pour into their fans is unrivaled, the only down side in the past was the colour.. not anymore though

The Noctua's are one of the best, but personally I prefer this one :

I have two 140 and two 120 in a Define R4, and they are dead silent at 12V. I think it is a nice alternative if you don't like the look of Noctua or if you wish to pay a little bit less :p

Well I know Noctua are like the legends when it comes to fans etc and all of this sounds quite appealing... might go with those then

I believe that "DIY Perks" used Noctuas for his "the quietest PC you'll ever hear"?...

Yeah, they look quite nice actually, but seem to be more expensive than the Noctua's here where I live... oddly enough.

The new EK Vardar has received pretty good reviews as well. Jay from Jayztwocents was pretty impressed.

Regarding Noctua - you simply can't go wrong.

Didn't quite like the look of those EK Vardar unfortunately.

Do yourself a favour and avoid Corsair.

I originally built my rig in purple and spent a fortune on 15 AF fans. They were light, flimsy, crap motors.. You name it. Three months in two of them started bearing farting.

If you want top quality go Noctua. If you want the same quality but a variation in colours go Cougar (Lepa) and if you want the very best go with Noiseblocker Bionic.

I currently use a mix of Xigmatek for cheap and good quality, Noiseblockers for silence and Cougar for performance.

NB and Cougar are quite hard to track down in the UK but worth it I feel.

Yes Noctua are made quite exquisitely. Cougar and Lepa are awesome too, though.

Insane price for those tbh. I just bought three and quality wise they're right up there with Noctua.

The Vardars seem to be the successor to the hugely impressive Gentle Typhoons. Some have rated them as the best radiator fans ever made.

You just must had bad luck all of the Corsair fans i have brought have been rock solid

To me that's what they are design wise

^Blade design looks a bit hmeh to me. The back shroud is just a copy of the Silverstone AP series - not bad fans either now I mention it.

I think it won't matter too much and either fan will serve you fine tbh. It's not like you're going to see a temperature difference (depending on RPM, of course), so the only thing you're looking for is silence. In that case I'd go with either the Noctua's, or BeQuiet fans if you want better looks.

Ditto, every Corsair Fan I have, have been faultless and my system runs pretty much 24/7 at that and it remains quiet.

Corsair are good at brain washing. They're very en vogue and a very fashionable brand. However, take those fans and inspect them closely next to a real fan like a Noctua?

Put it this way, the Arctic F12 has about the same build quality as a Corsair fan and they're about three quid each.

They look OK but that's where it ends. Same goes for their massively over rated cases. Honestly, get a AF 120 on the scales, then weigh a Noctua.

I bought a 250D and it's awful. All thin steel with a 1mm slither of alu on the front. If you take the sides off it actually contorts and twists due to the chassis being so thin.

I've had three Raptor mice break on me too.

The AF is what it is, a nice looking poorly made flimsy fan there's simply no getting around it.

+1 This

I don't understand why Corsair fans are getting a bad rap

Because they're built like crap.

I'm not being horrible, just being honest. I own 15 of them and they're the most cheaply made fans I've ever used..

Before I get lynched let me explain something. I own five gaming rigs. I've owned practically every high end product there is to own and when you've done that you get to know a good product from a bad one.

The 250D was absolutely raved about. Sadly I've had some proper chassis over the years and it simply felt light cheap and flimsy.

I'm not a reviewer. I was once but my opinions and rightful findings were not welcome so I gave it up, but the industry doesn't like people who are not afraid to tell the truth.

Apparently the 900D is far more substantial and better quality. I sure hope so.

Mind you maybe if I wasn't so spoilt (I've had a good few all Noctua cooled rigs) then I would be a bit happier with cheaper stuff.

Ohhh boy... you didn't say that... just waiting for the reply from someone who will question this

Well, he does have the rig galleries to back the claim up, but let's not take this too far off-topic ;)

I'm assuming I won't need to reply to the PM as I'll keep an eye on this thread?
