A good cheap psu for repair purposes

Hey guys

Im after a good cheap psu which i can get a couple of for cheap as a standby when I have to replace customer's psus. Ya know, just like 400w better than oem/generic crap.

Something I can rely on for helping me diagnose stuff too

Wish I could help but I've been on a bit of an unintentional PSU killing spree recently and managed to zap 4 units in the space of 2 weeks. :(

rast's suggestion looks ok but a tiny bit more than what i was hoping to spend

as to what i want:

something to have on hand and be able to trust when repairing/diagnosing faults (eg. if this psu solves the problem and the problem exists with "broken" psu then it needs to be replaced)

simply, as cheap as possible but not going to pop in two years time

hmmm.

Ofc u can always get a £10 unit, but tbh I'd not link u to any on general principle.

The only other manufacturers I'd get myself for a lower price than I linked to would be 350W. And they really would be P4/K7 psus.

Again, with the connector quesions, that's really gonna depend on what power u want a desk-test psu to be. For me 400w from some1 I have a history of using, I don't mind.

well i need one to potentially fix a broken psu

but then again it might not fix it

so ill have it spare for any future repairs so it needs to be good enough in that aspect

gonna find a £30 odd one - shud be good enuf at that price

why not get a psu tester? Ebay have fair few. Cheap as hell.

Tbh they aint really worth anything imo. All most of them do is light an LED if they can detect a that all the rails are running vaguely within range. Most PSU's will pass that test even if they've got bulging caps :(

i have ordered some brand on ebuyer for £16 which has got good reviews for what its worth.

shud be ok, but ill only be putting it in seriously underpowered computers.

Yeah, mainly good for - dead / not dead - testing.

Having said that, what are they £6 or less for the Antec type ? Scan atm are giving some brand away with come psus Today.

Certainly not a means to test the quality.
