6x9s for car

Hey guys

I got two 5" speakers in the passenger doors of my car - now i need some bass!

Its a citroen ax so other than the two in the passenger doors, i only really have the parcel shelf.

I have a kenwood something or other with 4x50w channels and a preout or two, but i wont be going sub due to the already small boot and it will prolly get nicked!

Recommendations?

I got a limit of £50

i can vouch for the sony xplods as i have two on my parcel shelf

i have two 13" in my front doors and they are massively bassy

JBL GT series kick out a hell of a lot of bass. The Xplod series are decent and Alpine make some very nice higher end speakers.

We were wiring one of my mate's cars up and picked up some Alpine components. Driver, mid and tweeter. Clean bass, clear midrange and decent highs. If you don't mind laying out a little more than the 'normal' 6x9s, then I highly recommend doing that.

Oh, and make you're own parcel shelf out of some solid MDF and acoustic cloth (cheap to buy, Halfords stock it I think). It improves the sound from car speakers no end.

I've wired up a few cars with decent audio, a good parcel shelf makes a huge difference and is really easy to do if you model it on the one in there already.

may look into that but im just looking for somethin to tide me over before i sell it end of the year kinda thing.

ill be stealthing them using some acoustic cloth tho, as the parcel shelf has a dipped bit where i can literally stretch some cloth across hiding any evidence of speakers

Just need to remember 6x9's are designed for the parcel shelf dude, not in the doors or owt.

Sonys are very good for the wedge tbh. Remember to use some baton or mdf strips to strengthen the pacel shelf too.

+1 on the hiding, even cheap speakers look fancy these days and may draw unwanted attention. I remember always being a fan of bazooka tubes for some bumpin bass in my days, strap em to the back seat in the trunk and BOOOOM!

alpine,kenwood,jbl are good midrange kit things start getting crazy when u mess with MTX,Coustic and JL audio even kicker,check out a place called Taztechnics next time ur lookin fella

now - anyone have tips on wiring them? I cant for the heck of me figure out how the existing cables get up to the headunit - its all closed off!

Plus im guessing i need an adapter to drive the current two ISO connection speakers and two coax - anyone know what im looking for?

yer you might need a new wiring harness for the back of your headunit,but the stock speaker cables should be there already for you to just connect to,nip to halfords they sell a range of wiring harness for all makes n models.

ok all i need is to skotch lock onto the existing rear cables on the harness (this is ALL new to me hehe) and im done.

i think if i take the cubby out of the dashboard i will be able to route through there - if not ill be drilling a hole :ar::ar::ar:
