This little machine will be used for F@h. Hopefully i will be able to build 3. My first scratch build. I will also be building my own rack to put it in and possible be putting my main rig in a rack also, it depends how things work out though. I will be using spare parts that i find. The only things i plan on buying are fans, sheets of aluminum, low profile cpu coolers and power buttons. I don't know exactly what hardware i will be using. I will find out sooner the time. Here are my plans.
I think im just going to bite the bullet and buy a rack but these will still get made. Im going to make a 4 but one will be even more custom for a nas. Updates today.
Yep, I've been contemplating buying a rack for ages. Finding somewhere to put it is the biggie. I have amassed a fair amount of rack gear over the years, so am looking forward to see what you come up with.
Well, i have been adding up materials and costs etc. Im going to need a shiz load of standoffs. These are not the motherboards that i will be using but it used all my standoffs just for one stand. Im going to use cheap blue led fans, why you may ask, because they are cheap and i have never had one fail on me. They also push a lot of air, they are not extremely noisy but you do notice them. They are also aesthetically pleasing and it is easy to tell if one fails. I will be using a 1000mmx1000mm sheet of aluminium that is 1.2mm thick. I will not be painting it as i like the look of bare aluminium and you will not even see it once my rack door is closed. I will be using chrome fan grills just for aesthetics and it will add some strength to the front of the case. I will be using 2 low profile cpu coolers by akasa. They are more than i wanted to pay but they are proper server coolers and i dont want to take risks with overheating. I will also be using silverstone aluminium handles. For rails, i think i will just stack them up. :lol:
