Which GPU block?

Sometime this century I am hoping to get an Ati X800XTPE graphics card; if they just dont appear it will be a 6800 Ultra - prob an ASUS, I like their style. I am gonna overclock it and use pelt cooling and a water system. Question is what would you recommend for the GPU block? I already have a 226W pelt - that should drop the GPU by around 30°C. The DD Maze4-1 and Swiftech MCW50-T already come with an 80W pelt, but I dont think thats enough. Also, what is best way to sequence all the supplies so I don't end up frying everything? The Mach II should sort itself out, but the pelt and water system need to be failsafe i.e. not just wiring the MeanWell S320 to the mains - else I can see everything either melting , freezing, leaking (forever the optimist!).

Any advice would be appreciated

hi m8 my honest opinion if ur going to get a pelt and waterblock go for a swiftech waterblock with pelt take the pelt out and fit a 172 watt 1.

dont go for a 226 watt 1 its overkill the gpu wont be able to push enough heat out to compensate the 226 watt pelt.

wou;d be ok just for benching but no way for 24/7 use.

u would eventually kill the card.

even when u use a 172 watt u will need to volt mod card to compensate the pelt.

i have the swiftech waterblock and 80 watt pelt and this has done me good.

as you can see from my scores ........anyways all the best ;)

Daz when you gonna get that quote malarky sorted m8? Thanks for the advice. I have gone for the DD maze 4-1 (over the Swiftech MCW50-T) and 172w pelt and getting an eheim 1250 pump. Don't know how the pelt will go on a 12V supply though when its rated to 24.6V - any thoughts? I think I'll try and mount the Meanwell s320 somewhere at the top - but I'll plan it all first, cos case cost £125 and thats the first thing you see so I dont want to f it up. Have you ever posted any piccies of yer rig? as sponsored by Yorkshire Electricity eh?

getting fed up waiting for an X800XTPE!

well it will still be more than an 80watter, the sweet spot is about 13-15V for heat and power. I have a 12V meanwell which I can overvolt to about 14v quite safely.

thanks nick, I have been told it should be around 100W we'll see ... Where did you put your Meanwell in your LianLi case?

well I still haven't got my latest setup built, but it will be going down the bottom in the HD cage next to the pump. They get a bit warm so a bit of airflow from the two front intakes will do it good.
