So, my CPU arrived and the build is back on!
Wasn't expecting an engineering sample, but as long as it works eh!
I also picked up this Adata 16GB 2800 kit for £100, which I really don't think is too bad considering current ram prices!
So I finally got everything together and it works! Honestly never been so relieved. As this is entirely second hand parts, I was just expecting something to go wrong somewhere.
Sorry about the mess
At this point I also popped the heat spreaders off the ram. Too much of a faf to repaint them, they could cause clearance issues and they have black PCBs anyway, so just leaving them naked.
All that was left to do then was chuck it in the case and fill the loop! But no.. I soon realised that I'm not going to be able to replace my EPS power cables when they arrive without draining the loop, so best wait.
My custom cables arrived the next day and golly gosh am I pleased with them. Fantastic service from
To The Wire.
So I loaded up the case..
Then found out that i'd planned on using my monoblock backwards as such, so had to add some risers and move the tubing around a bit. Doesn't look quite as clean as it did, but it's the best I can really do without going hard line.
So next was just to fill her up! Started pouring water in to the res, just for it to immediately flood out of the pump. Luckily nothing toon sensitive got wet, but I was puzzled where the leak was coming from. In the end, I took the pump out to test, and noticed that the water was coming out the actual casing. Took it apart, and lo and behold there was no O ring.
All I can assume is the previous owner opened it up to clean before selling and forgot to put it back in? I was told it was brand new, so I just didn't even check. Massive PITA.
So build yet again is on hold, until I get my hands on a replacement O ring. Also I'm going to have to drain the loop to fit an m.2 drive, so I may wait until I have one of them to before finally trying to fill again, we'll see.
