[Build Log] Delilah 2.0

Any idea what these cost? I might get a custom one machined instead

In the pic posted above, one of those mounts cost about $56CDN (monopoly money). Not sure how much that's worth in "proper" currency. :) But they're gorgeous pieces, nice colors, and solid as a rock.

That's roughly £30 a pop.. I think i'll worry about affording RAM and a boot drive before I start spending out that kinda money on a res mount

I have black ones, and they do look the part. Top quality kit, those things. Daniel's quality standards are off the charts. As arrogant and insufferable as he can be (I unsubbed from his YT channel due to that), the stuff he makes is quality.

They would look a lot better yeah. Still ruin that beautiful line of the res though, IMO.

I agree. That's why my res currently doesn't have any mounting at all. it's pretty sturdy once screwed down tight to the pump anyway.

They certainly do look well machined, got to admit that!

^ I can vouch for the quality of those Singularity Computers mounts. They're awesome, and even for a big tube, they are strong enough that you only need 1 of em. Sure aren't cheap though!

I just ordered a pair of the bitspower ones. They look cool as well.

Next update!

So this build sat as it was for a little, until Aquatuning suddenly put two MSI GTX970 blocks up as B ware. Super affordable GPU blocks that already match my rads and CPU block? Yes please!

And the system was finished! or so I thought.. I'd been budgeting for these GPU blocks, got them cheap and was left with a bit of money burning a hole in my purse. So a few hours scrolling on ebay later, I had a new CPU and ram! A xeon e5 1650 and 16GB of Crucial Sport 1600.

Can't believe I managed to pick up this 6 core unlocked CPU for just £60, talk about bang for the buck!

I was also gifted this 120mm radiator for the top by a lovely gentleman on facebook :D

Another little addition was this fantastic Power Adjust 3 and Splitty 9 from Aquacomputer. Great easy way to get all those fans and he pump under control.

Small issue when I went to install the GPU's.. it became clear why these blocks where 'B ware'..
Incredible blue staining in one of them.

Even after draining and refilling the loop 10+ times I was still getting a blue tinge.

But other than that, I just needed to straighten up the res and it was finished right?
JmicV7J.jpg

Well maybe it would have been finished if the two XSPC 45 degree fittings I picked up to straighten the res didn't leak like a sieve..
FsGDORr.jpg

I don't mean a slow leak either. Moment the pump started up, there was just water gushing out of the rotary bit of the fittings. Enough water to send my poor DDC to the big PC case in the sky :(

more components and a replacement pump should be with me by the weekend and i'll post another update then.

Looking nice there Lucy although I would stick with push or pull on that front rad since there is no real difference between those and push/pull and it would give you a bit more wiggle room.

Everyone has been saying this
I'll take out one set of fans if I get to a point where's it's just too crammed in, but I love that the case just looks so full. Empty space and excess tubing are by two biggest pet peeves when it comes to builds that focus on aesthetics :)

I really don't like those blocks. That said I guess if they were cheap...

The blue staining is completely normal. Are they copper? what are you cleaning them with, acid? it's just oxidisation being stripped from the surface :)

One of them arrived still dripping with blue coolant. I flushed it with water before installing but clearly wasn't enough. They are copper blocks though.

I'm actually quite fond of the big beefy design. But I'm going to be making some vinyls to go on the tops anyway :)

I don't think it is blue coolant. I think it was just water, that had turned blue because of the copper. If you need to flush anything else just use distilled white vinegar. It's brilliant..

I like the back of those GPUs (the back plate) but I don't like the front. Still, you won't see that any way so it doesn't matter too much.

She could be right though. Often B Grade are gpus set in a custom loop which have sat on a display shelf or used as an exhibition.

Personally I would take the whole block apart and clean the interior. That is just my OCD ticking over though.

I do that any way, with anything, regardless these days. I have bought practically all of my WC gear either clearance or second hand and I've had three fittings with rotten dry Orings that have failed. And leaked. First thing I did with my new block the other week was take it apart. I have the nitrile and superglue on hand now and will make my own if they are anything less than absolutely perfect. I also give anything electrical a sodding good going over too because losing that BigNG and so on was a lesson I will never forget. That pump wire bridged + and - and blew everything on that Molex run.

Either way, after running 5L of straight deionised water through the loop did the trick and the water is clear now. Which is good because I'll be adding white concentrate once it's all done :)

Looks neat, make sure you get some nice final shots once its all done, although I suspect it'll never be quite done, there's always something to tinker with. :)

They'll be lots of pics once I'm happy with it, which is starting to get close now that I've got components arriving!

So, a few days after that disaster, the replacement pump arrived, another cracking deal on facebook

Mounting did take a little bit of expert hole drilling to get it secure..

Freehand work like this is not my strong suit and the very reason CNCs exist

So everything was done again! But then I had a couple of drinks and kept thinking about how much work i'd been putting in to a rig with a 3rd gen CPU.

So this happened..

MSI x299 Gaming Pro Carbon with an EK RGB monoblock.
No idea how i'd afford a CPU and RAM, but £200 for the pair.. I sort of convinced my self
