Honestly guys he has a point on some of these, I am pro watercooling but in the event of going for temps you can get pretty good near watercooling temps with good air coolers even on graphics cards, take the arctic accellero xtreme (triple fan cooler) is silent and is pretty respectable in temps, as he mentioned the NH-D14 is a good cooler aswell. And for noise you can usually achieve silence on air aswell.

However when you get into the extreme overclocking and loads watercooling obviously will over power any air cooler out there. Especially when going up high in the voltages.

I think the main point of this topic was not to bash watercooling or call it stupid but to point out that you can get silence and low temperatures on air and to the OP he probably noticed a large amount of people saying the only way to get silence and good temperatures are liquid cooling, when it isn't true.

And to be fair my max temps on the CPU are 63c specs in sig 1.25v on the OC and it is quiet...the cpu cooler atleast(on lowest fan setting which doesn't change depending on load), however I desperately want to watercool my rig as my GPU is extremely loud in order to keep it in a respectable ~70c plus watercooling just looks cool and to some that doesn't matter but whatever makes YOU happy is what matters and there will be people out there that (if done right) will appreciate the job you've done which I think is the very reason this forum and I'm sure others have a "post your rig section" simply to display your build.

I do agree that there are potensh risks involved in watercooling but you shouldnt be doing it if you dont know exactly what you're doing anyway, meaning there shouldnt really be risks involved.

IMO, the only people that are against it will be those who have had bad leaks in the past, and as you rarely get block or rad leaks due to manufacturers error, it's more likely to be a noob error in the fitting

Now come on, you could have quoted the other section of his post for balance too (the part where he says his GPU is loud as hell).

Take a look at the difference between the RS360 kit, which is a very common cpu loop kit, against the NH-D14, best air cooler out there.

At the more mild overclock there is a large 10C difference in temps, at the heavy overclock there is massive 20C difference.

A massive 30C difference in temps with WC again performing better and better with higher thermal loads placed upon it.

This discussion is getting circular... we are constantly recommending air coolers. We recommend them many, many times more than watercooling in the New Build section because they are good enough for most people. Watercooling is a completely different league...but you have to use it properly. If you are just going to set up a single component with little or no overclock then get air cooling because you would be wasting the money you would spend on WC. Air gets you reasonable overclocks with reasonable noise levels for a reasonable amount of money.

However, if you want to get bigger clocks, want to cool more than one component and want a lot less noise then WC is really a lot better...

i was a noob that jumped in at the deepest end possible i guess my first ever full build is a 3930k on a rIVe with 16gb(atm) domiGT2133 ALL WATERCOOLED and it is the dogs danglies i have crap fan that look good but will be replaced by nf-f12 which look crap but are great but even at that my temps only flirt with 70oC with all that in one loop @1.36v 4.5ghz in a push only £5 each config so its flipping epic

You should be able to get 4.6ghz with that voltage and possibly lower volts. Would help your temps. Mine barely hits 70C too but I am on a H100 not full water.

there will be moar pic on the log when i get the time and funds lol. im about to buy 6 nff12s and thats only for the 1 rad ive got in atm lol also materials research and sourcing takes time in northern ireland its hard to find places as the country pretty much sucks bottom lol. but yea watercooling for the win

So, based on the responses so far, I have gathered that some people who water cool are suffering from:

1. A nasty case of bad manners
2. Temperature Fixation Syndrome

A Noctua D14 heat-pipe idles the CPU at 34 degrees and handles my highest load at 62 degrees, and I can barely hear the fans spin. Anything cooler is just a waste of time and money...

But really my 2500k at 5ghz got to 85c with my D14. My H100 dropped it to 76c, much better (louder but better). And a custom loop would be better.

its filled with Propylene Glycol , and all these self contained kits arent real watercooling.
