Watch Dogs Pc specs

There is another thread on Guru3D with a mod that fixes a few things and adds the effects that were supposed to be in the PC version.
All the files for the stuff that should have been in the PC version are still in the game, the guy who made the thread on Guru has been able to enable them.

He is still working on it and tweaking things but with the release he has out so far makes the game actually look like a PC game now and not just a console port. The DoF is still a bit messed up but it still makes the game look better.

Google

After hours testing... Watch Dogs (E3 Bloom effect working)

to find the thread.

Here is a screenshot (not mine)

Also here is how much the devs cared about the PC version.

Here's a video comparison.

It was probs a ploy by Ubisoft. So they could then charge Gamers for a "HD" pack that literally was an unlock code, and rake in even more money, sounds like the map packs that were sold in game.

They will suffer bad when they get completely boycotted by everyone on a title they have spent serious cash on.

Ive been on the ubisoft boycott since they came up with the horrible drm, on top of that their games are not that amazing imo so even after they went oh sorry we will remove the drm now and hope all is good, im glad im sticking to my guns when this stuff turns up.

Yes i did play assassins creed 4 which came with my video card, i thought it ran pretty poorly and the gameplay is just hold shift to climb, jump and go full autopilot which was boring as hell.

Glad i didnt buy into the hype behind this game, it may have some unique new things but overall it looks like another ubi game.

This sort of happens a lot in code and it's not that coders don't care, it's just compared to the extremes you need to go to on console to avoid bottlenecks you simply don't need to go to the same effort for PC HW. I guarantee above that line there is some comment explaining the limitations of a console and why it is done like that as opposed to the PC line.

I know some weird things get put in code but that line says a lot about the person who wrote it. To say who cares implies that at least that one person didn't, fair enough maybe not all of them had that attitude but that one person did at least.

The full shader file can be seen here

I imagine whoever pasted it, changed the comment line? surely? if it really says that in the original source file that's pretty shitty.

It is in there from the guys at Ubi :p

Also, the plot thickens. There are even disabled animations and the effects used for E3 clearly labelled as "E3" in other files.

The whole Uplay shit, basically all of their games being poorly optimized, DLCs fer days. It's a large publisher/developer, just look at what they did with Assassin's Creed, have a look on the wiki page, the amount of games they made to milk that franchise in the past few years is unreal.
Not as bad as EA != good PC developer.

All of their games? Hardly. Most of their new games is much more true.
Why the actual f**k am I even defending Ubisoft? Yeah they're bad and so are 90% of all the developers out there today. I'm not denying it :P. Heck I don't think I own a single Ass cred game.

There are some diamonds in the rough though, namely Rayman,Far Cry and even some of the Tom Clancy games. Honestly I think they've gone further down hill recently as well. Uplay even had some interesting ideas but now its actually used by more than three people at a time its less stable then a three legged donkey.
They're getting worse and worse however its a good thing that the only games they make that i like seem to be half decent/fantastic jobs. Far Cry 3 for example, crappy story but solid mechanics, optimisation and map.

It is kind of shat that they did this, but at least the code is still there for extraction. Do you think it was done to limit the PC > console hate? What if Sony and Microsoft had something to do with it to keep their sales/use up? It seems like that is the first thing people jump on; How much better does it look on PC, and New gen consoles suck. Are devs coming to the aid of the consoles?

I enjoy the game already, but I can't wait for this to get fully sorted by the clever folks that found it.

The thing is if these files hadn't been discovered by the public we wouldn't have even known about them. Or was it Ubisofts plan to release a DLC or "remastered" version later down the line with all the graphical extras included?
All these disabled effects work and they have no major hit on performance, infact performance is better with them enabled. So why the hell were they disabled in the first place?

The console inferiority theory may have some truth to it because the same thing happened with Dark Souls 2. If you look at the E3 trailers for Dark Souls 2 and how the game looked on release it is exactly the same story.

Even more fuel to add to the fire..

According to a Ubisoft dev the game was not downgraded for PC.

Shes not really a dev :P. She is PR.

Also I could say loads of things that could be considered very impolite and potentially liable about her however I won't.

Am I the only one who thinks that they were eventually going to release all these fixes and the such so it makes it look like they actually patch and improve their game for free? It'd kind of be like a "look we're not DICE/EA we actually fix our games :)".

Whoever she is she has been proven wrong :p

Not even once, they haven't even released a performance patch yet.
The guy who discovered these files got them working in the game within hours.
The game has been out a for a month now and Ubi hasn't done anything.

This little update/patch that was found looks great

Can't really call it a mod as it was already in the game, Even performance seems smoother :)
