OK i just got this installed on my spare HD and im having some troubles with it.

FIrst off, i cant remember how to get rid of that stupid security question.

Secondly i need nF4 audio drivers for X86 Vista. I cant find any, any ideas?:wavey:

Don't ditch Vista, it owns. Some people have a hard time accepting change, and that Vista is actually a much better and solid build of Windows than anything in the past.

You do need to give it a fair go. I may not personally like it, but to be honest, if I install the usual things I use on an OS, DOpus etc, and find a decent mail thing for it, I`ve not had any real issues with it. I wouldn`t exactly praise it as being the best build either, not yet anyways.

I don`t play games on it mind.

AND bare in mind that u will have to use it eventually - so how and when is kinda up to u.

I find Vista to be a great OS once you've configured it to your likings. To me, the problem with Vista isn't the OS it self, it's the drivers that are currently available for it (Or even, unavailable).

Like Kemp said its on my internet HD (which is my spare 160gig SATA). So XP is still for my games, and prolly wont change till i absolutely need Vista *cough* Halo2 *cough* but thats why Vista Ultimate is going on the other drive :)

And i feel really dumb, i was so tired last night i didnt even bother to check the DFI site or Realtek site at all!! All i did was try to install my Vista nF4 drivers and it had no audio.

Imo Vista is damn nice really. Im just so used to XP that like said before i dontw ant to change but im forcing myself to learn it because i like some of the features in Vista. Not to mention, i have it might as well use it.

Besides the audio drivers i need to find a driver for my modem :/

If i got no modem i have no internet which makes this drive pointless.

Its a standard Gateway Data/Fax internet modem.

One last thing, i cant remember for the life of me how to make the desktop icons smaller either. Ive looked and looked, no go.

Right click your desktop > View

Then change it to the size you want. Or while on your desktop, you can hit Ctrl + Scroll Wheel to change the size.

As for the modem, what Make + Model is it? A lot of people have been having trouble getting USB modems to work on Vista.

Plus one, I freakin' love Vista.

also try and learn to live with the UAC, it may be an extra click, but im pretty sure it will help with security. It's like how on most linux distro's, you dont run as root by default. Windows taking a leaf out of the linux book (security chaptor) is only a good.

UAC Kept blocking xfire from starting up, I couldn't figure out how to allow xfire, even when I told UAC to un-block it :( Just had to shut it off.

I shut all that off and finally got everything to work except sound and my modem. Sound shouldnt be a problem now, just gotta have time to install drivers..

As for the modem, the only information i got is what i put. Gateway 56k data/fax internal modem. (Lol didnt mean to put internet)
