Vadim Computers goes into liquidation

It is with great regret that I must inform you that V-Solutions LTD, the official company behind Vadim Computers, as from today, 07/07/08 has gone into voluntary liquidation.

One of the reasons for this sudden action is the credit crunch that unfortunately hit the electronics and PC hardware industry hard. Below is a more in depth explanation of how it all happened.

Such a shame. I was taking to Vadim a few days back and he mentioned about selling the company - I had no idea this would happen so soon tho.

Well and truly gutted tbh. Good luck your future ventures Vadim whatever you decide to do mate :(

Sad day! As a trader myself, the current economic climate is hitting hard! I feel for the Vadim team and hope they all find their feet again soon!

This is what I don't understand though. How did they stay in business anyway.

They built PCs to high spec then charged WAY too much for them. Surely anyone wanting that sort of hardware would have the knowledge to build the units for a fraction of the cost.

Don't get me wrong a DIY build is just the PC, they had very well done cases with engraving, cutting, logos, airbrushing and stuff. But I suppose if people didnt buy for the name instead of performance Ferrari wouldn't have a business either.

I still remember their forst entrant to the DreamPC category was a beauty all black and shiny.

It's a shame, it's a true shame...

as it looks to me, they made quite some very nice computers,

and I really like the "Ragnarok"...

When you compare prices on a system, be it a self build or a purchased custom build, you do have to take into consideration the amount of work involved. I can throw together a bog standard, no bells or whistles rig in under 20 minutes, but the high end, customised ones always take longer.

The high end system market is still quite a niche market, but is growing in popularity. Some people want a high end system, but don't have the knowledge to be able to put one together and/or to choose the right components, or they couldn't be arsed messing around. This was probably Vadim's intended market.

I think there will be a few more of us indies going under before the economy recovers. I also offer support services, which is thriving, so I am managing to keep my head well above water at the moment, but it is quite scary at the moment. The retail part of my business has had to take a back seat as it is becoming increasingly difficult to make a profit.

Cheers,

Stu

It wouldn't surprise me if we see 1-2 more fairly well known websites go the same way before the end of the year :(

Its a shame... yes their PC's Are amazing and do look really good, but i mean som of the prices are just stupid! somthing that would cosr £2000 is like £8000 on their i say if they cut the prices in half or at least deduct a 1/4 of the price they would still be here

yh credit crunch has hit everyone i was working for a video game store/ computer repair and we had to go in to liqudation after trading since 1987

I know but its still overpriced. My computer is apparently just over 2k when it only cost me 1400 and mine is pretty medicore on parts.

If there wasn't a market for high performance high price, ferrari would be out of business. Its not price that gets you to buy a Ferrari (and if your a tinkerer it certainly isn't power either), its because it is a Ferrari.

I have always like Vadim computers as they do look good and I wish them the best of luck but TBH this has been coming for many places in the current climate.

What a sad piece of news although I'm sure Vadim will bounce back. Best of luck for the future Vadim

I don't think it's so much the credit crunch mate, but more a combination of reduced profit margins (it's a cut throat industry) and the fact that many peeps choose to build/upgrade their own computers.

yea totaly agree with you PV5150 but think about it... High spec computers/games/consoles/dvd/music these are all forms of entertainment therefore they can do with out it

if their is a credit crunch peolpe start panicking and become alot tighter with their money and would rather spend it on an extra carton of milk then a game lol...

Thing is in the UK, people have for too long put up with paying prices based on what sellers consider they will pay for them.

It doesn`t help the stores who want a piece of that action when it all slows down.

yep thats why we always get ripped off lool on everything!!!... clothes petrol food dvd's Computer Equipment i mean pretty much everything!

it Pis*es me off when i go to a different country and i see that they have the same thing for a fraction of the price!!! ARR

we should all be politions ;)

In the US they are up in arms over fuel prices. I think in the UK they`re pretending to be up in arms to look fashionable and appear to be in touch with world affairs.

Think the UK pays 3+x more for fuel than the US.

Don`t like complaining unless it`s fashionable and PC u see. Come up with stupid stunts that sound nice and do nothing. Then continue to buy.

What do you suggest we do? Stop buying fuel? People need cars!

As one of our more senior members you should remember that it was the f**king Torys that ruined everything in 1993 with the a change in the petrol taxation with the Fuel Price escalator.

It was an easy way for the goverment to make money. The result was UK fuel prices went from pretty much the lowest in Europe to the highest.

As if that wasn't enough even when the fuel escalator was abandoned in '99 Labour still piled on the tax. The trend was set.

Fuel price is ~70% tax. Don't get me started on VAT, yeah, they bang that on too. Who's fault is that? The Torys. Yes Labour introduced it but only for luxury goods, the Tories slapped it on EVERYTHING.

Anyway, fuel tax generates a stack of cash. I don't know the figure but I guess it is millions. If fuel tax is cut we need money to come from elsewhere, where? The NHS? Education? If you ask me prisoners should be treated like prisoners. Prisons should be awful. With food supermarkets throw out. No tv's. Human rights my a$$, you gave those up when you raped/murdered. Obviously some prisons remain OK for the lesser evil crims...

AND, whilst I'm on politics, Gordon Brown has created the strongest economy we have seen. We are barely feeling this world wide credit crunch, need I remind you our two worst recessions were under the Torys, inflation went up to 15% and what is it now? 4.5%?

I'm not a Labour fan boi, nor a Tory flamer. I hate politicians/politics. It's a mess.

P.S That dx11 news has put me in a bad mood.
