After some complications - there is a story in that itself but I am finally on top of the server RAID arrays.

Ive done two tests with Raid6. One with a 256 stripe and one with a 512. For my needs it looks as though the 256 is going to work best. The benches are above, the 100MB fits inside the cache which is white you see the 7GB/s speeds. the 1000MB floods the cache and you get to the raw drive speeds and for 5 drives in Raid6 Im very happy with 500MB/s

The server is also now running the Plextor M.2 drive I reviewed ages ago, its only a 700/550MB/s R/W but for this its fittingly overkill!

I now need to strip off the 512 stripe raid and start from scratch with a 256 array, only sad thing is the verify time is almost 3 days (thats when its at full speed)

Almost ready to sped days transferring data off of the old server though!

This is probably my worst build log EVER. Things have been busy but in the new office and getting back on track, tonight I finally got the bulk of the Server sorted, cables tidied as much as possible and short of a dust shroud for the roof this is pretty much done unless I go full retard on a bigger window to show off all of the drives!

Would be a crime not to show off those drives so a bigger window is a must i think?
Imagine a white LED strip shining at them from the front showing all the goodness!

About the cables, i take it those silver ones are slim/flat SATA cables?
Would it be a idea (when possible) to route those all trough a flexible tube (like Corsair H100) to get them more tidy than this?

That is disgustingly neat considering what's in there! I can't make my NORMAL PC look that good, and I only have 4 HDDs!

Lovely work and definitely worth the wait. Never crossed my mind to go custom SATA cabling to get all my drives in one run. I have to use two (4 x SATA Power) and it's messy. What's the maximum number of HDD's you can run off one cable?

Also you should totally go Simple Jack on that window.

Knowing TTL, that cable will get some OCD. Nice build not as nice as the other buildlogs but I hope you will get it going once the office is sorted

As for anti-virus for server 2012r2, Clamwin is my go to. I recently made the jump from server 2008r2 to 2012r2 and I've always been a Kaspersky fan.. seems my licence for KIS didn't work and years of linux I laughed and and got the windows version of Cam-AV (Clamwin) and it's free!

Clamwin is good but the problem is it gives to many false positive it will find programs and mark them as a virus when clearly there not.

TTL IMO there is nothing wrong with 1080p 60FPS the problem with anything higher is not everyone can playback anything higher than 1080p TBH i have watch a couple of short videos in 1440p and i couldn't even tell any difference between 1080p & 1440p
